Women's Weekly Release: Second Half League Play Begins As Top Teams Collect Points
BC, BU, UConn, Northeastern Each Earn Majority of Points Available to Start 2025

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

The second half of the 2024-25 season began last weekend with the league’s top four teams earning the majority of points available to them as Boston College (4), Boston University (3), UConn (5), and Northeastern (6), all further separated from the pack. BU and UConn now sit tied in first with 33 points, Northeastern is just behind with 32, and BC is fourth 31. The fifth-place teams have 17 points each.

Julia Pellerin paced Boston College’s offense, racking up six points (3g, 3a) including a five-point (3g, 2a) outing in Sunday’s 5-0 win over Maine to help the Eagles keep pace in the Army ROTC Standings. Grace Campbell pitched a 32-save shutout in that win.

Northeastern swept Merrimack, 3-1, and Holy Cross, 4-0 in their first games back from break. Jaden Bogden posted back-to-back multi-point performances with four points, while freshman Lisa Jönsson made 32 saves and posted her fifth shutout of the season. She leads all goaltenders nationally with a 0.80 GAA and .967 save percentage and is tied for second nationally with five shutouts in just 10 games.

Boston University took down Holy Cross, 3-0, in the Terriers’ lone game back. Christina Vote scored on the power play for the game-winning goal and Callie Shanahan stopped all 15 shots she saw.

UConn skated to a 1-1 draw and shootout win at Boston College before taking a 3-2, come-from-behind victory at Vermont. Claire Murdoch scored three of the Huskies’ four goals on the weekend and found the back of the net in the shootout at BC to give her team the extra point in league play and lift them into a tie for first place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings.

Providence won two games in league play as Hope Walinski made 42 saves and Brooke Becker had two points and blocked four shots in each game.

Julia Pellerin - Boston College

Julia Pellerin (So., F; Windham, N.H.) had a historic weekend for the Eagles, racking up five points (3g, 2a) in a 5-0 win over Maine on Sunday as seen live on NESN. She also had an assist in a 1-1 draw with UConn on Friday, also on NESN, for six total points on the weekend. No player in the NCAA had more points than Pellerin, whose hat trick Sunday was the first for the Eagles since 2022.

Claire Murdoch - UConn

Claire Murdoch (Fr., F; Toronto, Ont.) scored three of UConn’s four goals in an undefeated weekend in league play. She netted the Huskies’ lone goal in a 1-1 tie at No. 11 Boston College, and netted the only goal in the shootout to earn UConn an extra point. Murdoch followed with another stellar performance on Sunday recording her first career multi-goal game in UConn’s 3-2 victory at Vermont. Murdoch netted the game-winning goal to complete UConn’s third period comeback.

Brooke Becker - Providence

Brooke Becker (Gr., D; Orchard Park, N.Y.) had two points (1g, 1a), including a power-play goal and a primary assist, in a 5-2 win over Vermont and blocked a team-high four shots in each game of a weekend road sweep at Vermont and Merrimack.

Grace Campbell - Boston College

Grace Campbell (Gr., G; Kensington, Md.) went 1-0-1 over the weekend, making 53 saves while only allowing one goal. Campbell had a save percentage of .981 and a goal-allowed average of 0.48, which led the NCAA last week among goaltenders who played more than one game. She recorded a 32-save shutout on Sunday’s game against Maine, her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Alanna Devlin, BC (Fr., F; Marshfield, Mass.) Found the back of the net in a 5-0 win over Maine on Sunday, her second career goal.

Molly Jordan, BC (So., D; Berlin, Conn.) Ended a 1-0-1 weekend with one goal and two blocked shots this weekend. Jordan came up big for the Eagles, making a save in the crease to keep Campbell’s shutout hopes alive in Sunday’s 5-0 win.

Christina Vote, BU (Sr., F; Arlington, Mass.) Scored on the power play 2:25 in the second for the game-winning goal in BU’s 3-0 shutout win at Holy Cross, her first goal of the season. She is tied for most points on BU squad with 13.

Tamara Giaquinto, BU (Gr., D; Toronto, Ont.) Potted BU’s third goal in the 3-0 win at Holy Cross and assisted on BU’s second goal, leading her team with two points. Her tally was her fifth power-play goal of the season which leads Hockey East in both league and overall play.

Callie Shanahan, BU (Sr., G; Commerce, Mich.) Shut out Holy Cross in the first game of the second half by making 15 saves in the 3-0 win. It is her third shutout of the season, a career high. She sits second in shutouts in Hockey East play and is tied for most wins in Hockey East play with nine.

Tia Chan, UConn (Sr., G; Hamilton, Ont.) Made 28 saves in a 1-1 draw at No. 11 Boston College. Chan came up clutch in the shootout denying BC on all three attempts, earning UConn an extra point in the standings.

Stephanie Jacob, ME (Fr., F; Winnipeg, Man.) Scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-1 win over New Hampshire in Friday’s Border Battle. She set up the game-winning goal and fired seven shots on net in a split road weekend for the Black Bears.

Kiia Lahtinen, ME (Fr., G; Porvoo, Finland) Made 33 saves on 34 shots against in Friday’s 4-1 win at UNH, posting a .971 save per- centage.

Maggie Kime, MC (Fr., D; Plymouth, Mich.) Had an assist in Merrimack’s 3-1 setback to Northeastern and scored her first goal as a Warrior against Providence in a 5-1 loss.

Calli Hogarth, MC (Jr., G; Barrie, Ont.) Stopped 53 of 58 shots across two starts for Merrimack last weekend.

Jaden Bogden, NU (Gr., F; Edmonton, Alta.) Posted back-to-back multi-point performances with four points overall to guide Northeastern to wins over Merrimack and Holy Cross. Bogden tallied a goal and an assist against Merrimack and two assists, including one on the game-winning goal against the Crusaders.

Morgan Jackson, NU (Fr., F; Courtenay, B.C.) Tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Holy Cross. Jackson recorded the first game-winning goal of her career.

Tuva Kandell, NU (Fr., D; Leksand, Sweden) Posted two points and a plus-three rating over two wins against Merrimack and Holy Cross. Kandell tallied an assist against Merrimack and then posted a goal against Holy Cross. She now leads all rookie Hockey East defensemen with 10 points on the season.

Lisa Jönsson, NU (Fr., G; Stockholm, Sweden) Made 32 saves in two wins against Merrimack and Holy Cross. Jönsson posted her fifth shutout of the season against HC. Over the two games, Jönsson posted a .970 save percentage and 0.50 GAA. She leads all goaltenders nationally with a 0.80 GAA and .967 save percentage and is tied for second nationally with five shutouts in just 10 games.

Audrey Knapp, PC (So., F; Stevens Point, Wis.) Had one goal in each game last weekend at Vermont and Merrimack, including her team-leading 10th goal of the season. She is currently on a five-game point streak, a career high, with three goals and two assists in that span.

Jessie Pellerin, PC (Fr., F; Bowmanville, Ont.) Dished out two assists in a 5-3 win at Vermont on Friday.

Hope Walinski, PC (Sr., G; Lincoln, R.I.) Won each of her games at Vermont and Merrimack on the weekend, making 42 saves with a .919 save percentage.

Kaylee Lewis, UVM (So., F; McKinney, Texas) Registered two points on one goal and one assist in a 5-3 setback to Providence on Friday, her first multi-point game of the season. She finished the week overall with a plus-four rating and blocked two shots.

Oona Havana, UVM (Fr., F; Turku, Finland) Earned her first career point with an assist on Friday against Providence while she posted a career-best five shots on goal. On Sunday, she netted her first career goal and first multi-point game with a goal and an assist for three points on the weekend.

Ashley Kokavec, UVM (So., D; Parkland, Fla.) Registered one goal and one assist against Providence on Friday, her second multi-point game this season. She recorded five total shots on the week and tallied three total blocked shots.
