AMESBURY, Mass. - The Hockey East Association announced today that Northeastern freshman forward Stryker Zablocki (Prince Albert, Sask.) has been awarded the 2026 Cammi Granato Award as Hockey East Player of the Year. Zablocki was also named Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Year.
Alongside Zablocki, Boston College first-year Ava Thomas (Downingtown, Pa.) was named Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Year. Holy Cross head coach Katie Lachapelle was tabbed as Hockey East Coach of the Year by her peers, the first time she has been so honored and the first time a Holy Cross bench boss earned the accolade.
Zablocki is the sixth Husky to win the Cammi Granato Award, named after the legendary Providence pioneer, and the
ninth honor for the Northeastern program overall. As a first-year player in league play, Zablocki led all Hockey East skaters in goals (17) and points (34), and was third in assists (17). She is the first rookie to lead Hockey East in conference
scoring since 2017-18, when Boston College’s Daryl Watts was also named Rookie and Player of the Year en route to
winning the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award as the best player in women’s NCAA Division I hockey. Her plus-21 rating
was tied for first among all players in Hockey East games, while her 112 shots on net were the third-most. No player in
Hockey East had more power-play goals than Zablocki, who converted four times while on the advantage and she added
two game-winning goals. She was named unanimously to the All-Hockey East First Team and Pro Ambitions All-Rookie
Team and was tabbed Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month in November and January.
.
Thomas was unanimously voted to the All-Hockey East First Team and Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team after leading
Hockey East in assists (19) and finishing second with 14 goals and 33 league points. No player in Hockey East had more
game-winning goals (5) in conference games, while her 208 shots on net also paced all conference skaters. She collected
Hockey East Player of the Month in September and October and earned Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month in January
and February. On January 16, she collected four assists and six points in a single game, the highest individual total for
both stats in Hockey East this season. She also enjoyed an eight-game point streak, the longest such run in the league
this year.
Lachapelle is honored as Hockey East Coach of the Year after leading the Crusaders to their best-ever season since
joining Hockey East in 2018-19, going 10-11-3 in 24 league contests. Holy Cross finished fourth in the Hockey East stand-
ings with a program-record 10 wins in conference play. Nearly every player on her squad saw increased point production
from 2024-25, a roster that included 16-returnees from a team that went 6-17-4 a year ago. Her team blocked the most
shots in Hockey East (352) and allowed the third-fewest goals in league play and had the third-best save percentage of
any league team while boasting the third-best penalty kill unit. Her Crusaders also excelled at the faceoff dot, winning 645
draws, the second-highest total in Hockey East play. Lachapelle guided Holy Cross to their first-ever appearance in the
Hockey East Tournament semifinals.
