Providence Extends Winning Streak to Nine

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Boston College won its 21st Beanpot title, and the Eagles’ first since 2016, with a 6-2 victory in the 300th all-time meeting with rival Boston University. James Hagens had the primary assist on the title-winning goal and was named Beanpot MVP after scoring the semifinal-winning goal and totaling five points in the two games. BC netminder Louka Cloutier won the Eberly Award for the best save percentage in the two Beanpot games.

Providence ran its winning streak to nine straight games with a pair of 6-1 victories, and the Friars are now 10-0-1 in their last 11 league games, the longest such streak since 2024. Tanner Adams racked up five points, including a four-point night (1g, 3a) on Friday.

UConn’s Tyler Muszelik shutout Northeastern, 2-0, on Friday. The Huskies’ netminder is 11-2-2 in his last 15 starts and has won three straight.

Massachusetts and UMass Lowell split a weekend series, the River Hawks’ taking a 3-1 win on Friday at home. Jak Vaarwerk totaled three points on a goal and two assists, scoring a game-clinching empty-netter before adding assists on both goals in Saturday’s road matchup. The Minutemen bounced back with a 5-2 win thanks in part to a three-point night from Jack Musa.

Merrimack exploded for a league-high nine goals on Tuesday in a 9-5 victory over Stonehill. The Warriors had eight different goal-scorers and saw four-point nights from both Trevor Hoskins (2g, 2a) and Justin Gill (1g, 3a). Three other players also had multi-point outings.

Tanner Adams - Providence

Tanner Adams (Jr., F; Northport, N.Y.) paced all Hockey East players with five points in a 2-0-0 weekend to run Providence’s winning streak to nine games. On Friday, he registered a career-high four points on a goal and three assists and then added the primary assist on the game-winning goal in Saturday’s win over Vermont.

Oscar Hemming (Fr., F; Vaasa, Finland) dished out two primary assists, including on the game-winning goal, in Monday’s 5-1 win over Harvard in the Beanpot semifinals.

Sascha Boumedienne - Boston University

Sascha Boumedienne (So., D; Stockholm, Sweden) had an assist in both Terrier games last week, including the primary helper on Ryder Ritchie’s overtime goal against No. 18 Maine. Boumedienne also had nine blocked shots on Friday against the Black Bears in a 3-2 win.

Jack Parsons - Providence

Jack Parsons (Fr., G; Cortland, N.Y.) posted a 2-0-0 record with a 1.00 GAA and .962 save percentage over the weekend, stopping 51 of 53 shots he faced. He currently rides a nine-game winning streak.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

James Hagens, BC (So., F; Hauppauge, N.Y.) Finished with three goals and one assist over two games for Boston College. Hagens tallied three points on two goals, including the game winner, and one assist on Monday night to help lead the Eagles past Harvard, 5-1, in the Beanpot and found the back of the net again on Friday night against Vermont. He is currently on a three-game goal and point streak (4g, 2a) and has 11 points (5g, 6a) in his last six games.

Lukas Gustafsson, BC (Sr., D; Atlanta, Ga.) Had one goal and one assist in the Beanpot semifinal and followed that up with another assist on Friday.

Cole Hutson, BU (So., D; Chicago, Ill.) Recorded an assist in both games of a 1-0-1 weekend and also scored the shootout winner to send Boston University to the Beanpot title game.

Ryder Ritchie, BU (Fr., F; Kelowna, B.C.) Netted the overtime winning goal on Friday against No. 18 Maine.

Mikhail Yegorov, BU (So., G; St. Petersburg, Russia) Made 24 saves in Monday’s 2-2 tie against Northeastern before stopping two of the Huskies’ three shootout attempts. He then made 28 saves against No. 18 Maine in Friday’s 3-2 win.

Tyler Muszelik, UConn (Sr., G; Long Valley, N.J.) Made 16 stops in a 2-0 shutout win over Northeastern on Friday. He is now 11-2-2 in his last 15 starts and has won three in a row.

Justin Kerr, UMass (Fr., F; Grand Rapids, Minn.) Scored in both games of a split weekend with UMass Lowell to extend his goal scoring streak to four (4g) and his point streak to five (4g, 1a). He netted the team’s lone goal in Friday’s 3-1 road loss and potted the game winner on Saturday in a 5-2 win. He also blocked three shots.

Jak Vaarwerk, UML (Jr., F; Clarence, N.Y.) Totaled three points on a goal and two assists in a split weekend with No. 19 UMass. In Friday’s 3-1 victory, he scored the game-clinching empty-netter, before adding assists on both goals in Saturday’s road matchup. He also won 23 of 38 faceoffs for a .605 faceoff win percentage. He appeared in his 100th consecutive game for UMass Lowell.

Josh Mori, UML (Fr., D; Richmond, B.C.) Scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday’s game at No. 19 Massachusetts.

Austin Elliott, UML (Fr., G; Strathmore, Alta.) In Friday’s 3-1 win against No. 19 Massachusetts, he made 21 saves with just one goal allowed in the victory.

Trevor Hoskin, MC (So., F; Belleville, Ont.) Scored two goals and added two assists in a 9-5 win over Stonehill on Tuesday.

Justin Gill, MC (Fr., F; St-Joseph-du-Lac, Que.) Netted one goal and had three assist in a 9-5 victory over Stonehill on Tuesday.

Cam Kungle, MC (Jr., F; Red Deer, Alta.) Potted a goal and had one assist during Tuesday’s 9-5 win over Stonehill.

Aleksi Kivioja, PC (So., F; Espoo, Finland) Totaled four points in two wins last weekend on three goals and one assist with a league-best plus-six rating. On Friday, he tallied the game-winning goal at UNH and followed up with two goals and an assist on Saturday in the 6-1 win over Vermont.

Donovan McCoy, PC (Fr., D; Belleville, Ont.) Had three points to tie for the most among all Hockey East defensemen over the week. On Friday he dished out an assist at UNH before recording a shorthanded goal and an assist in Saturday’s 6-1 win over Vermont. He finished the weekend with a plus-five rating and six blocked shots.

Colin Kessler, UVM (So., F; Anchorage, Alaska) Had two goals and an assist in a split road weekend for the Catamounts, including a goal and an assist in Friday’s 6-1 win over Boston College.

Ethan Burroughs, UVM (So., F; Oakville, Ont.) Had two goals, including the game-winning goal in a 6-1 road victory at Boston College.
