HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
The Army ROTC Hockey East Standings are tight with six teams separated by five points or fewer as all 10 teams will be in action this weekend. All six teams have a chance to significantly improve their standing with a sweep, while two other series also have significant implications.
Vermont got back on track with a two-game sweep of Merrimack. Rose-Marie Brochu picked up her first collegiate points with a one-goal, two-assist weekend in two games at Merrimack. She assisted on the game-winning goal in Friday’s 4-2 victory before scoring her first NCAA goal and adding another helper in Saturday’s 4-2 triumph Evelyne Blais-Savoi racked up four points (2g, 2a).
Holy Cross earned its most points ever against Boston College, taking a shootout victory after a 2-2 draw on Saturday, earning two points in the standings. Madison Beck recorded a total of 61 saves on 65 shots across 123:55 of work, including 35 saves and denying all eight shootout attempts in that game.
Boston University delivered head coach Tara Watchorn’s first victory as the Terriers’ bench boss on Saturday, a 6-1 win over Syracuse. Mari Pietersen took her first collegiate win in the same game, making 12 saves.
Providence and Maine dueled to a split weekend in Rhode Island, each
taking three points in their Hockey East openers. The Friars Audrey Knapp scored three goals on the weekend. Maine’s Ida Kuoppala scored
twice against Providence in Friday’s 4-3 win, netting the game-tying and
game-winning goal to cap off a come-from-behind victory. She leads Hockey East in goals (7) and points (11) through seven games. She is tied for
fourth in goals nationally.

Skylar Irving (Jr., F; Kingston, Mass.) factored into all four Northeastern goals in a 4-1 win over Sacred Heart at the Ice Breaker. Irving posted three assists and one goal for a career-high four-point outing. On the season, Irving’s nine assists lead all Hockey East players and rank tied-sixth nationally.

Audrey Knapp - Providence
Audrey Knapp (Fr., F; Stevens Point, Wis.) scored three goals,
including a two-strike outing on Friday, in a 1-1-0 weekend against
Maine. She currently leads the Friars with four goals on the year.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK

Nadia Mattivi - Boston University
Nadia Mattivi (Gr., D; Balselga di Pine, Italy) registered four points (1g, 3a),
including her 50th career point, in a 1-0-1 weekend against Syracuse. On
Friday, she scored and added a helper in a 4-4 draw. In Saturday’s 6-1 win,
she dished out the primary assist on the fifth and sixth Terrier tallies. She
blocked five shots on the weekend.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Madison Beck - Holy Cross
Madison Beck (Sr., G; Lunenburg, N.S.) recorded a total of 61
saves on 65 shots across 123:55 of work last weekend against Boston College. In Saturday’s 2-2 draw, she made 35 saves and denied
all eight shootout attempts from the Eagles to earn an extra point
in league play, giving the Crusaders their first-ever draw at Boston
College.

Sydney Healey, BU (So., F; Arthur, Ont.) Posted four points (2g, 2a) in a 1-0-1 weekend against Syracuse. She scored the first goal unassisted and again on the power play in a 6-1 win on Saturday over the Orange on Saturday. She added an assist on BU’s third goal against Syracuse in Friday’s 4-4 tie.
Alex Law, BU (Fr., F; Whitby, Ont. Netted her first collegiate goal in Saturday’s 6-1 win over Syracuse on Saturday after dishing out an assist in Friday’s 4-4 draw. Won seven of nine faceoffs she took in the 1-0-1 weekend and finished with a plus-four rating.
Mari Pietersen, BU (Fr., G; Goodwood, Ont.) Earned her first collegiate win in a 6-1 victory over Syracuse, making 12 saves to help BU win its first game of head coach Tara Watchorn’s tenue. She made 28 saves in an undefeated weekend and improved to 1-1-1 overall on the year.
Megan Warrener, UConn (Jr., G; Stoney Creek, Ont.) In her first start of the season, she posted a 26-save shutout to back UConn to a 4-0 win over New Hampshire.
Charlotte Sonntag, HC (So., F; Sun Valley, Idaho) Registered her first goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Boston College, converting on the power play.
Emmanuelle Gendron, HC (Fr., F; Rockland, Ont.) Scored her first collegiate goal at 13:01 of the opening period on Saturday, giving Holy Cross a 1-0 lead. She had three shots on net and helped the Crusaders to a 2-2 tie.
Casey Borgiel, HC (So., D; Port Huron, Mich.) Made two blocks in both games of a 0-1-1 weekend against Boston College, helping Holy Cross to two league points and its first-ever tie with Boston College.
Elise Morphy, ME (Sr., D; Regina, Sask.) Dished out an assist in each game of a road split at Providence. She fired two shots on net and blocked two shots.
Sedona Blair, UNH (Fr., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) Made 27 saves to record her first career shutout in UNH’s 2-0 win at UConn on Friday. She stopped 11 shots in the first period, then six in the second and 10 in the final frame, including one in the final minute when UConn had an extra attacker on the ice to secure the victory.
Ella Blackmore, NU (Fr., F; Northville, Mich.) Recorded her first career goal in a 4-1 victory over Sacred Heart on Saturday at the Ice Breaker. Blackmore’s goal also counted as her first collegiate point.
Evelyne Blais-Savoie, UVM (Jr., F; San Jose, Calif.) Racked up four points (2g, 2a) in a two-game sweep of Merrimack, including a two-goal game on Friday. She kick-started a three-goal run in the third period of Saturday’s 4-2 win with the primary assist on a Lily Humphrey goal 4:05 into the stanza.
