HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
The first half of the Hockey East women’s schedule came to a close Friday, as Boston University took a 3-2 overtime win over Holy Cross. Nadia Mattivi scored the overtime winner for the Terriers and added a pair of blocked shots.
Vermont earned a pair of road wins at Syracuse, moving to 13-7-1 on the year. Corinne McCool scored both game-winning goals for the Catamounts while Jessie McPherson stopped 32 of 34 shots she faced.
Providence split a weekend with #3 Quinnipiac, toppling the Bobcats, 3-2, on the road on Saturday. Defender Claire Tyo factored in on all three Friars’ goals, kickstarting a three-goal comeback with a pair of assists in the second period an a primary helper on the game-winning goal.
Merrimack earned a 4-3 road win over Dartmouth on Saturday,
thanks in part to an assist and game-winning goal from rookie forward Sophie McKinley. Sophomore Alexa Pongo found the back of
the net in each game of the weekend split, and now has four goals in
her last four games.
HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Corinne McCool - Vermont
Corinne McCool (Gr., F; West Roxbury, Mass.) scored a goal in
each of Vermont’s back-to-back wins at Syracuse, both of which
proved to be the game-winning strike.. She now has eight goals and
12 assists on the season, including three goals and one assist on
her current four-game point streak.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sophie McKinley - Merrimack
Sophie McKinley (Fr., F; Vernon, B.C.) dished out an assist on the
game-winning goal in Saturday’s 4-3 road victory over Dartmouth, as
seen on NESN.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK

Claire Tyo - Providence
Claire Tyo (Jr., D; Massena, N.Y.) finished Saturday’s game against
Quinnipiac with three assists, one on each Providence goal to help
secure the win over the Bobcats. It set a new single-game career
high for Tyo, who finished plus-three in the game.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Jessie McPherson - Vermont
Jessie McPherson (Jr., G; Chatham, Ont.) picked up a pair of road
wins at Syracuse over the weekend, stopping 32 shots and allowing
just two goals to move to 12-7-1 on the year.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Lacey Martin, BU (Jr., F; Minnetonka, Minn.) Scored the game-tying goal against Holy Cross with an impressive individual effort in an eventual 3-2 overtime win for the Terriers.
Brooke Disher, BU (Fr., D; Fort St. John, B.C.) Opened the scoring against Holy Cross with her second goal of the year.
Nadia Mattivi, BU (Sr., D; Baselga di Pine, Trento, Italy) Scored the overtime winner against Holy Cross and added a pair of blocked shots in a 3-2 victory.
Alexa Pongo, MC (So., F; Midhurst, Ont.) Found the back of the net in each game of a split with Dartmouth. She now has four goals in her last four games.
Hayley Chang, MC (So., D; Coquitlam, B.C.) Had two assists in Merrimack’s victory over Dartmouth on Saturday, a 4-3 triumph.
Theresa Schafzahl, UVM (Gr., F; Weiz, Austria) Dished out three primary assists in a weekend road sweep of Syracuse. She has four assists on her current three-game point streak.
