HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Northeastern was clicking on both ends of the ice as the Huskies’ goaltender Gwyneth Philips pitched back-to-back shutouts while Alina Mueller racked up six points (3g, 3a) including two game-winning strikes in a weekend sweep of Boston College. Junior blueliner Abbey Marohn posted one assist and six blocks to anchor the defense.

Maine freshman Lilli Welcke racked up four points on four assists, including helpers on both game-winning goals, to launch the Black Bears to a weekend sweep of Holy Cross. Her offensive prowess has helped Maine into a tie for fourth place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings with 18 points.

UConn earned a sweep over #10 Providence thanks in part to Brooke Campbell’s continued to hot streak with four points in her last three games. She scored Friday’s game-winning goal in a 2-1 win before dishing out the primary helper on both goals in Saturday’s come-from-behind 2-1 triumph.

Merrimack split a weekend series with New Hampshire as Hayley Chang played hero on Saturday. She scored her first-ever collegiate goal, a power-play strike, and followed up with an overtime dagger just 59 seconds into the extra frame to secure the win. The previous night, Brianna Brooks, netted two goals, including the game-winner, for UNH.

Boston University and #13 Vermont split a weekend series in Burlington. Natalie Mlynkova factored in on all five UVM goals, scoring both marks in a 2-1 win over Boston University on Friday before dishing out three assists in Saturday’s 4-3 setback. BU’s Lacey Martin, scored two goals, including the overtime winner, and added an assist in the Terriers’ victory.

Alina Mueller - Northeastern

Alina Mueller (Gr., F; Winterthur, Switzerland) posted six points off of three goals and three assists in a weekend sweep over Boston College, including a four-point (2g, 2a) performance on Friday. Mueller also potted back-to-back game-winners for the Huskies. She now leads all Hockey East players with 21 points, which is the fifth-best mark in the country.

Brooke Campbell - UConn

Brooke Campbell (Fr., F; Essex, Ont.) continues to stay hot with four points in her last three games, scoring one goal while assisting on two others for three points in a weekend sweep of Providence. She scored Friday’s game-winning goal in a 2-1 win before dishing out the primary helper on both goals in Saturday’s come-from-behind 2-1 triumph. Campbell also won 48% of her faceoff attempts.

Hayley Chang - Merrimack

Hayley Chang (So., D; Coquitlam, B.C.) played the hero in Merrimack’s 5-4 win over New Hampshire on Saturday night. She scored her first-ever collegiate goal, a power-play strike, in the third period against the Wildcats. She followed up with an overtime dagger just 59 seconds into the extra frame to secure the win.

Gwyneth Philips - Northeastern

Gwyneth Philips (Sr., G; Athens, Ohio) posted back-to-back shutouts over Boston College to lead Northeastern to a weekend sweep over the Eagles. Philips notched 36 saves over both games. Her five shutouts and 12 wins lead the country, while her 0.72 GAA and .964 lead all Hockey East goaltenders and rank second nationally.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Lacey Martin, BU (Jr., F; Minnetonka, Minn.) Scored two goals, including the overtime winner, and added an assist in the Terriers’ 4-3 victory at #13 Vermont on Saturday to earn a weekend split.

Sydney Healey, BU (Fr., F; Arthur, Ont.) Netted BU’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to #13 Vermont on Friday and picked up an assist in a 4-3 overtime win against the Catamounts on Saturday.

Jada Habisch, UConn (Jr., F; Buffalo, Minn.) Potted two goals and assisted on one for three total points in the weekend sweep of #10 Providence.

Camryn Wong, UConn (Sr., D; Vancouver, B.C.) Assisted on one goal and made four blocked shots to help the Huskies sweep #10 Providence. In addition, Wong finished plus-two on the weekend.

Tia Chan, UConn (So., G; Hamilton, Ont.) Allowed just two goals in two games against #10 Providence, backboning the Huskies to a sweep. She finished the weekend with 46 total saves and a .958 save percentage.

Mira Seregely, Maine (So., F; Budapest, Hungary) Tallied three points last weekend in a sweep of Holy Cross, netting one goal on Friday before turning in a two-point (1g, 1a) outing on Saturday.

Lilli Welcke, Maine (Fr., F; Heidelberg, Germany) Racked up four points on four assists, including helpers on both game-winning goals, to launch the Black Bears to a weekend sweep of Holy Cross. Her offensive prow- ess has helped Maine into a tie for fourth place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings with 18 points.

Brooklyn Oakes, Maine (Fr., G; Richmond Hill, Ont.) Earned back-to-back victories last weekend, including a 25-save shutout in Friday’s win. She then kicked out 22 of 23 shots she faced in a 4-1 triumph.

Payten Evans, MC (Fr., D; Calgary, Alta.) Recorded her first-ever NCAA goal in Merrimack’s overtime win on Saturday, a 5-4 victory over New Hampshire.

Emma Gorski, MC (Sr., G; Wallaceburg, Ont.) Started both games for Merrimack last weekend, going 1-1-0. She made 52 saves, including 24 stops in Merrimack’s 5-4 OT win on Saturday.

Brianna Brooks, UNH (Jr., F; Whitby, Ont.) Netted two goals, including a game-winner, in last weekend’s home-and-home split with Merrimack. She won 15 of 21 faceoffs (71.4%), blocked two shots, and recorded seven shots on goal.

Abbey Marohn, NU (Jr., D; Saint Joseph, Mich.) Posted one assist and six blocks as the Huskies swept Boston College. Marohn helped anchor a Husky defensive unit that allowed just 36 shots on goal and posted back-to-back shutouts over the Eagles. Marohn’s 11 points are tied to lead all Hockey East defenders and her 26 blocks rank second in the league.

Ida Press, PC (Gr., D; Uppsala, Sweden) Assisted on Noemi Neubauerova’s goal with a perfectly positioned rocket pass at the 13:28 mark of first period in Saturday’s game. She also finished with two blocks over the weekend.

Natalie Mlynkova, UVM (Jr., F; Zlin, Czechia) Factored in on all five UVM goals last weekend, scoring both marks in a 2-1 win over Boston University on Friday before dishing out three assists in Saturday’s 4-3 setback.
