Hockey East Wins 18 Medals at Women's World Championship
Team Canada Claims Gold, U.S. Earns Silver, Czechia Takes Bronze

AMESBURY, Mass. - The Hockey East Association claimed 18 medals at the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship, held in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark. Boston University products Marie-Philip Poulin and Victoria Bach helped the Team Canada to a gold medal over the United States, while seven alumnae earned a historic bronze medal for Czechia. Providence Associate Head Coach Alison Domenico served as an assistant coach for Canada.

Taking home silver for the U.S. was Cayla Barnes (Boston College), Hannah Bilka (Boston College), Alex Carpenter (Boston College), Jesse Compher (Boston University), Kendall Coyne Schofield (Northeastern), Aerin Frankel (Northeastern), Megan Keller (Boston College), and Hayley Scamurra (Northeastern).

Czechia’s roster was powered by Denisa Krizova (Northeastern), Dominika Laskova (Merrimack), Natalie Mlynkova (Vermont), Noemi Neubauerova (Providence), Tynka Patkova (Vermont), Vendula Pribylova (Maine), and Blanka Skodova (Vermont).

Hockey East was well represented on the world stage, with 30 current and former athletes competing for eight different countries in the annual tournament. A full list of the athletes can be found below.

Half of the players are current student-athletes and will skate in Hockey East in 2022-23, representing seven of the 10 Hockey East institutions. Maine and Vermont lead the way with six representatives each, Northeastern boasts five, Boston College and Boston University each claim four, while Merrimack and Providence have both produced three players.

The players hailed from eight different countries, with the United States and Czechia producing nearly half of the field with eight and seven athletes, respectively. Germany followed with four players, Denmark sent three, and Canada, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland all boasted a duo.
