DURHAM, N.H. - Senior forward Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass.) netted two goals as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated LIU, 6-1, on Saturday evening at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.

Sophomore forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) and junior forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) both had multi-point games with one goal and assist. Sophomore forward Marty Lavins (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore forward J.P. Turner (East Falmouth, Mass.) also each found the back of the net for the Wildcats.

Junior goalie Jared Whale (Calgary, Alberta) earned the win with 21 saves.

The Wildcats improve to 3-3-1 overall, while the Sharks fall to 2-4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- LIU struck first on the power play at 16:46 of the first period, when Trent Powell dished a pass center ice to Issac Lambert, who fired a shot through the five-hole and into the net.

- Just 21 seconds later, Lavins answered back with a shot from the slot that landed blocker side to tie the score 1-1. LeClerc and sophomore defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass) each recorded an assist.

- At 6:13 of the second period, LeClerc scored a power play goal glove side off a rebound from the crossbar to extend the lead to 2-1. Senior forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) and Conmy were credited with assists.

- With a pass from junior forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.), Turner netted one top shelf to put the 'Cats up 3-1 at 8:08.

- Continuing the Wildcats' momentum, Conmy made the score 4-1 on a backhander from the slot off a pass from senior defenseman Luke Reid (Warman, Saskatchewan).

- UNH extended the advantage to 5-1 at 5:05 of the third period, when Cronin scored on a blocker side shot off a pass from sophomore forward Jason Siedem (Madison, N.J.). Senior captain Alex Gagne (Bedford, N.H.) also recorded an assist on the goal.

- With just 1:14 left in the period, Cronin netted his second goal of the game for the 6-1 final as senior defenseman Colton Huard (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) sent the puck off the boards to Cronin who found the back of the net for the power play goal. Senior defenseman Luis Lindner (Spittal an der Drau, Austria) also posted an assist on the score.

- The Wildcats went 2-4 on the power play and the Sharks went 1-7.
