ORONO, Maine - Harrison Scott and Thomas Freel had two goals each as the #7/6 University of Maine men's ice hockey team completed a Hockey East series sweep over Merrimack with a 6-0 win on Saturday night at Alfond Arena.
Scott had four points on two goals and two assists while Freel had three points on two goals and one assist. Taylor Makar and Brandon Holt each had two assists.
Ross Mitton struck just 17 seconds into the contest and then Freel's first power-play goal of the night in the final minute of the period gave Maine the 2-0 lead.
The Black Bears then put home four goals in the second period, including three in under four minutes. Scott and Charlie Russell scored just 15 seconds apart and then Freel popped home his second power-play tally of the evening. Scott finished off the scoring late in the frame for the 6-0 lead that would last the remainder of the game.
