BOSTON -- The #19/18 Northeastern Men's Hockey team opened the 2023-24 season with a 7-0 shutout over the Stonehill Skyhawks on Saturday night.
- Northeastern saw seven goals from six different skaters, including three players who netted their first career goals as a Husky.
- Graduate-student Pito Walton and sophomore Jackson Dorrington recorded the first two goals of the night, each for their firsts in the Northeastern sweater. Walton also tallied an assist for a two-point evening.
- Sophomore duo Cam Lund and Vinny Borgesi tallied three points apiece with one goal and two assists each. Additionally, Lund tied for the team-high seven shots on goal, while Borgesi tallied a goal in the Huskies season opener for the second year in a row.
- In his first year with Northeastern, senior Alex Campbell lead the way in scoring, potting his first two goals as a Husky in tonight's victory. His goals came back-to-back in the final period to seal the 7-0 win. He also recorded an assist on Dorrington's goal.
- Additionally, veteran skaters Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and Justin Hryckowian added two assists each to the statsheet.
- Cameron Whitehead, the rookie goaltender, completed the shutout in his first career NCAA game, while stopping 13 shots on goal.
The Huskies will host the Quinnipiac Bobcats tomorrow for an exhibition game, starting at 4 p.m.
