HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
A historic weekend around Hockey East that saw No. 13 Maine post a 1-0-1 record over No. 1 Boston College was highlighted by several standout weekends that saw four Hockey East skaters top the country in scoring categories.
No. 13 Maine took four points in a 1-0-1 weekend against No. 1 Boston College as Victor Ostman made 52 saves for the Black Bears. He earned Maine’s first win over a No. 1-ranked team at home since Jan. 7, 2000 when the No. 3 Black Bears downed No. 1 New Hampshire, 9-4.
Merrimack defenseman Zach Bookman exploded for seven points (1g, 6a) to lead the nation in scoring last weekend. Alex Jefferies posted six points, including a five-point (3g, 2a) outing on Friday, to pace the Merrimack offense in a weekend split with UConn.
Vermont took a weekend split at No. 14 UMass, thanks in part to a five-point (2g, 3a) night from defenseman Jeremie Bucheler, who set up the game-winning goal in Vermont’s come-from-behind win that saw the Catamounts score six unanswered goals.
No. 9 Boston University swept UMass Lowell, 3-2 and 6-1, to move to 3-1-1 in league play. Quinn Hutson scored four goals and posted five points, while Lane Hutson extending his goal-streak to four games with a tally in each outing. Macklin Celebrini dished out four assist on Saturday, his lone game of the weekend, to lead the NCAA in points per game.
No. 5 Providence swept Northeastern, 2-1 and 5-2, as Chase Yoder tallied
four points in two wins this weekend on one goal and three assists. On
Friday, he assisted on both of Providence’s goals in a 2-1 overtime win and
tied for the league lead last week with a plus-five rating.
HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quinn Hutson - Boston University
Quinn Hutson (So., F; North Barrington, Ill.) led Hockey East with four goals
including a hat trick on Saturday as part of a five-point weekend to power
Boston University to a sweep in Hockey East play. Hutson added an assist
on Saturday for a career-best four points, including the game-winning goal.
Hutson finished with a plus-five rating on the weekend, including a plus-four
on Saturday.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Gabe Perreault - Boston College
Gabe Perreault (Fr., F; Hinsdale, Ill.) posted multi-point performances in
each game at 13th-ranked Maine at Alfond Arena. He collected a pair of
assists on Friday, then had a goal and an assist on Saturday. He converted
in Saturday’s shootout to keep BC alive before the Eagles eventually won
in eight rounds. He is currently riding and eight-game point streak with 15
points in that span (2g, 13a). He is second among rookies in the NCAA with
15 points on the year and eighth among all skaters.

Jeremie Bucheler - Vermont
Zach Bookman (So., D; Syracuse, N.Y.) led the entire NCAA with seven points in two games last weekend, scoring one goal and dishing out six assists. His stat line including three primary helpers, three power-play assists, one game-winning assist and one game-tying goal. He erupted for a five-point night (1g, 4a) in a 6-3 road win on Friday. Bookman is currently riding a seven-game point streak with two goals and 11 assists in that span.
Jeremie Bucheler (Gr., D; St. Laurent, Que.) Became the first Catamount defenseman to register five
points in a game since 1972 in Vermont’s come-from-behind 6-2 win
over #14 UMass Saturday night. He
posted two goals and three assists
for five points, including setting up
the game-winning goal. It was the
first multi-point game of his career.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Victor Ostman - Maine
Victor Ostman (Sr., G; Danderyd, Sweden) went 1-0-1 last weekend,
backstopping No. 13 Maine to a 4-2 win and 2-2 tie with No. 1 Boston
College. He made 52 saves across the weekend for a .929 save percentage. It was Maine’s first win over a No. 1-ranked team at home
since Jan. 7, 2000 when the No. 3 Black Bears downed No. 1 New
Hampshire, 9-4.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Ryan Leonard, BC (Fr., F; Amherst, Mass.) Scored a goal in each game of a 0-1-1 weekend series at No. 13 Maine and added a primary assist on Saturday night for a three-point weekend. He tied the game late in the third period on Saturday before BC earned two points in a shootout win. He fired eight shots on net and was plus-two for the series while pushing his goal scoring streak to four games (4g, 1a).
Jacob Fowler, BC (Fr., G; Melbourne, Fla.) Stopped 65 of 70 shots he faced this weekend in a 0-1-1 weekend at No. 13 Maine to post a .929 save percentage. He denied six of eight shootout attempts on Saturday, helping the Eagles earn two points in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings.
Macklin Celebrini, BU (Fr., F; Vancouver, B.C.) Led the NCAA with 4.00 points per game last weekend as he tallied a career-high four assists, including three primary helpers, in Saturday’s 6-1 win over UMass Lowell, his only game of the weekend. He is now tied for the NCAA lead in points with 18, and he’s the only one of those players who has won over 50% of faceoffs (54.3% to be exact). Celebrini was a plus-three on Saturday.
Lane Hutson, BU (So., D; North Barrington, Ill.) Scored in both of the Terriers’ wins over UMass Lowell this past weekend, including Friday’s game-winning goal. He now has a goal in four straight games and has tallied more goals (6) in the past four games than the next closest defenseman has all season.
Mathieu Caron, BU (Jr., G; Abbortsford, B.C.) Led Hockey East with a .939 save percentage and posted a 1.51 goals-against average in two wins in league play. Caron only allowed two even-strength goals all weekend and made 28 saves in Saturday’s win.
Andrew Lucas, UConn (Sr., D; Alexandria, Va.) Scored two goals and dished out one assist for three points in a weekend split with Merrimack.
Lynden Breen, Maine (Sr., F; Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.) Posted three points on one goal and two assists in a 1-0-1 weekend against No. 1 Boston College. He assisted on the game-winning goal in Maine’s upset of #1 Boston College on Friday and was third in the conference with 26 face-off wins.
Bradly Nadeau, Maine (Fr., F; St-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.) Scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Maine’s 4-2 upset of #1 Boston College on Friday night. It was Maine’s first win over a No. 1-ranked team at home since Jan. 7, 2000 when the No. 3 Black Bears downed No. 1 New Hampshire, 9-4.
Grayson Arnott, Maine (So., D; Toronto, Ont.) Scored a goal and added three blocked shots in an undefeated 1-0-1 weekend against No. 1 Boston College.
Alex Jefferies, MC (Sr., F; Lunenburg, Mass.) Tied for second in the NCAA with six points last weekend, scoring three goals and adding three assists. Jefferies exploded for five points on a hat trick and two helpers in a 6-3 win at UConn on Friday night, dishing out an assist on the game-winning, power-play goal. Jefferies now has a point in his last three games since returning from injury and has posted eight points on five goals and three assists, all in his last three outings.
Chase Yoder, PC (Sr., F; Fairview, Texas) Tallied four points in two wins this weekend on one goal and three assists. On Friday, he assisted on both of Providence’s goals in a 2-1 overtime win against Northeastern. On Saturday, he scored and added an assist in a 5-2 win at Northeastern. He finished tied for the league lead last week with a plus-five rating.
Tanner Adams, PC (Fr., F; Northport, N.Y.) Registered his second career three-point game on Saturday in a 5-2 win at Northeastern. The rookie notched his first two-goal game and added an assist with a plus-two rating.
Jens Richards, UVM (So., F; Detroit Lakes, Minn.) Became the first Vermont player since 2018 to post a hat trick Saturday night in the Catamounts 6-2 win over #14 UMass. Richards scored the Cats first shorthanded goal of the season during Vermont’s six-goal run Saturday.
