HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
#14 Boston University earned a convincing weekend sweep of #10/11 Massachusetts, taking victories of 7-2 and 5-1. Rookie forward Ryan Greene racked up six points (3g, 3a), including a five-point outing on Friday with two goals. Drew Commesso made 21 saves and did not allow an even-strength goal in Friday’s win in Amherst before stopping 29 of 30 shots in a 5-1 win on Saturday.
UConn and Providence skated to a pair of intense draws that saw the Huskies earn shootout victories in both ends of a home-and-home. Justin Pearson scored the equalizing goal Friday night with 3:42 remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. On Saturday, he assisted on a game-tying goal and scored again to tie the game at four apiece in a 6-6 stalemate. Providence’s Max Crozier led all Hockey East defensemen with four points over the past week after registering a career-high four assists in Providence’s 6-6 tie.
Merrimack swept Maine and moved to 6-1-0 in league play, good for second in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings. Matt Copponi netted three goals, including the lone strike in Friday’s 1-0 win. Hugo Ollas stopped all 33 Maine shots en route to a 1-0 shutout victory.
Vermont took its first weekend sweep in league play since Feb. 28-29, 2020 in a two-game set against New Hampshire. Goaltender Gabe Carriere allowed just one five-on-five goal across 120:00 of work, is only such goal in his last three starts. In all, he kicked out 43 shots in his two starts, picking up a pair of 2-1 wins.
Boston College took four of six points from #15 Northeastern in a thrilling
weekend home-and-home. Freshman Cutter Gauthier earned the first
multi-goal game of his career Friday night adding an assist for a three-point
outing in a 4-4 road draw. He picked up another assist on Saturday in a 3-2
victory at home. Marshall Warren netted the game-winning goal in the third
period on Saturday night.

Ryan Greene - Boston University
Ryan Greene (Fr., F; Paradise, N.L.) powered Boston University to a weekend sweep of #11/10 Massachusetts, highlighted by his five-point night in
Amherst on Friday. He matched his career high with two goals and set a
new career best with three assists and five points in the 7-2 victory. The
freshman then opened the scoring the next night, a 5-1 win, and finished
the weekend as a plus-four. All told, his six points (3g, 3a) were a two-game
best.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Cam Lund - Northeastern
Cam Lund (Fr., F; Bridgewater, Mass.) registered a four-point (3g, 1a)
weekend against Boston College. After opening the scoring on Friday at
home, Lund netted two goals in the final 2:07 in regulation, including the
game-tying goal with 0.6 seconds left to play. He went on to score the lone
goal in the shootout, securing the extra point in Hockey East play for the
Huskies. He then earned an assist in Saturday night’s setback.

Slava Demin - Merrimack
Slava Demin (Gr., D; Santa Clara, Calif.) dished out three helpers on the
weekend, including setting up the game-winning goal in Friday’s 1-0 victory
over Maine and adding two more in Saturday’s 5-2 triumph.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Gabe Carriere - Vermont
Gabe Carriere (Jr., G; Ottawa, Ont.) backboned Vermont to a two-win
weekend sweep of New Hampshire, the team’s first since Feb. 28-29, 2020.
He allowed just one five-on-five goal across 120:00 of work. The junior
netminder has now surrendered just one full-strength goal against in his
last three outings. In all, he kicked out 43 shots in his two starts, picking
up a pair of 2-1 wins. Carriere is undefeated against New Hampshire in his
career, sitting at 3-0-1 with 102.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Trevor Kuntar, BC (Jr., F; Buffalo, N.Y.) Posted a power-play goal and an assist Friday night at #15 Northeastern, an eventual 4-4 tie. He added another power-play marker on Saturday in a 3-2 win. He fired 12 shots on goal, six each night, and pushed his point streak to four games (2g, 3a).
Cutter Gauthier, BC (Fr., F; Scottsdale, Ariz.) Earned the first multi-goal game of his career Friday night at #15 Northeastern, adding an assist for a three-point outing in a 4-4 road draw. He picked up another assist on Saturday in a 3-2 victory at home to collect a four-point weekend. He launched 11 shots on net for the Eagles.
Marshall Warren, BC (Sr., D; Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) Netted the game-winning goal in the third period on Saturday night, delivering a 3-2 victory over #15 Northeastern. He also had an assist in Friday night’s 4-4 tie.
Quinn Hutson, BU (Fr., F; North Barrington, Ill.) Scored a career-high two goals and added an assist for a career-best three points in Friday’s 7-2 win at UMass. Hutson then added an assist in Saturday’s victory to finish the weekend with four points. He was a plus-three across the two tilts,.
Case McCarthy, BU (Sr., D: Clarence Center, N.Y.) Notched a goal and an assist in the Terriers’ weekend sweep of UMass. McCarthy also blocked three shots and was a plus-three on the weekend.
Drew Commesso, BU (Jr., G; Norwell, Mass.) Was outstanding in the Terriers’ weekend sweep of UMass. He made 21 saves and did not allow an even-strength goal in Friday’s win in Amherst before stopping 29 of 30 shots in a 5-1 win on Saturday. Commesso made clutch saves early in both games to allow the Terriers a chance to build a lead.

Samu Salminen, UConn (Fr., F; Helsinki, Finland) Finished with a plus-three rating, won 60% of his faceoffs and scored one goal in a stalemate weekend with Providence.. Salminen came up big for the Huskies in the shootouts, scoring the lone goal in penalty shots on Friday night at Providence, and scored in the shootout Saturday to extend an eventual Huskies win.
Andrew Lucas, UConn (Jr., D; Alexandria, Va.) Wrapped the weekend with three assists, which helped the Huskies come from behind and earn a pair of ties with Providence.
Logan Terness, UConn (So., G; Burnaby, B.C.) Allowed just one goal while making 35 saves and stopping every attempt in the shootout in Friday night’s 1-1 draw.
Matt Copponi, MC (So., F; Mansfield, Mass.) Netted three goals this weekend, helping Merrimack to a sweep of Maine. He scored the game-winning goal in Friday’s 1-0 victory and twice in Saturday’s 5-3 win.
Zach Bookman, MC (Fr., D; Syracuse, N.Y.) Potted his first goal as a Warrior, the eventual game-winning strike in Saturday’s 5-2 win over Maine.
Hugo Ollas, MC (So., G; Linkoping, Sweden) Stopped all 33 Maine shots en route to a 1-0 shutout victory over Maine on Friday.
Max Crozier, PC (Sr., D; Calgary, Alta.) Led all Hockey East defensemen with four points over the past week after registering a career-high four assists in Providence’s 6-6 tie at UConn on Saturday. The four assists also were the most by a Hockey East player last week. He also finished with a plus-one rating and five blocked shots.
Dawson Good, UVM (Fr., F; Abbotsford, B.C.) Turned in a two-point (1g, 1a) weekend in a sweep of New Hampshire.
