ORONO, Maine -- Kiia Lahtinen turned away 33 shots as the Black Bears earned a 2-0 victory over No. 13/12 Northeastern on Friday evening at Alfond Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Lily Fetch got the Black Bears on the board when her eighth goal of the season came at 18:30 into the second period. Jamie Grinder assisted on the play to give the Black Bears a 1-0 edge through two periods of action.

Lahtinen posted 12 saves in the third period, including a lunging glove stab late in the period, to maintain the shutout before Stephanie Jacob's empty netter with just 13-seconds remaining sealed the victory for the Black Bears.

The win improved Maine to 9-20-1 overall and 8-14-1 in Hockey East action while Northeastern slipped to 18-11-1, 13-9-1.

Northeastern held a 33-29 edge in shots on goal while Maine was able to kill off the only penalty of the game.

Maine returns to action on Friday, Feb. 14 when they travel to take on Merrimack at 2 p.m.
