HANOVER, N.H. - Senior forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) posted one goal and one assist for two points as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team tied No. 17 Dartmouth, 3-3, on Friday evening at Thompson Arena in non-conference action. After a scoreless overtime the 'Cats won the shootout, 1-0.

Junior goalie Jared Whale (Calgary, Alberta) made 15 saves, while sophomore forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) and sophomore forward Jason Siedem (Madison, N.J.) each scored for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats, who are 5-1-2 over the last eight games, are now to 7-4-3, while the Big Green are 6-3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Big Green took a 1-0 lead at 2:03 of the first period when Hank Cleaves stole the puck at mid ice and then fired a shot from the slot to the lower stick side of the net for his first career goal.

- At 11:21, Sean Chisholm increased the advantage to 2-0 when he knocked in the puck from just outside the crease.

- The 'Cats cut the deficit to 2-1 at 16:52 when Conmy sent a one-timer towards the net that was deflected off a Big Green defender to the back of the net. Junior forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) and senior forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) each posted an assist.

- Dartmouth responded 59 seconds later with a goal by Steven Townley from the right faceoff circle at 17:51 to extend the lead to 3-1.

- Siedem made it a 3-2 contest at 3:39 of the second period when he scored on a rebound from a shot by senior defenseman Luke Reid (Warman, Saskatchewan). Junior forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) also recorded an assist on the goal.

- With just 55 seconds left in the second period, Devlin tied the game at 3-3 with a breakaway goal.

- The third period and overtime went scoreless, but a goal by LeClerc and three saves by Whale gave UNH the shootout win.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- UNH outshot Dartmouth, 30-18.

- There were no penalties called on either team.

- Whale made 15 saves and is 7-4-3 on the season, while Roan Clarke tallied 27 saves for the Big Green.
