WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team traveled to Brown for an afternoon non-conference matchup on Sunday, Dec. 1. The Bears came out with the 4-1 win over the Crusaders.
BETWEEN THE PIPES:
Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (L, 3-5-0), 48 saves
Brown: Anya Zupkofska (W, 2-2-1), 18 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first period, Brown netted back-to-back goals at 9:28, netted by Margot Norehad, and 9:55, scored by Ava DeCoste. The Crusaders responded at 14:48 with forwards Charlotte Sonntag and assistant captain Emily Crovo finding junior forward Lane Lewis on the outlet pass to cut the Bears lead in half.
- In the second period, the Bears reclaimed a two-goal lead at 2:08 scored by Ella Murlat.
- In the third period, Holy Cross pulled its goalie to have an extra skater advantage but Norehad came out of a scuffle in front of the net with the puck and scored an empty netter at 18:35. The Bears took the 4-1 win over the Crusaders.
- Brown led Holy Cross 52-36 in shots on goal and 34-26 in face-offs to conclude the game.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- Hornung had a career-high of 48 saves
- Lewis scored her fourth goal on the season
