PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College women's hockey team defeated St. Michael's, 6-0, on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. to sweep the weekend series. Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.), Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario), and Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) all finished with three points.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) started the scoring for the Friars on the power-play with assists from Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) and Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas) 18:01 into the first period.
-Johnson recorded goals in back-to-back games for the first time in her career.
-Just before time expired in the first period, Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) scored a shorthanded goal, the first shorthanded goal for the Friars this season. Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.), and Emma Hofbauer (Vomperbach, Austria) were credited with the assists.
-In the second period, Kirchmair re-directed Hannah Clarke's shot from the point to make it 3-0 with 10:36 to go in the period. Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) was also credited with an assist. Clarke's assist is her first-career point.
-Providence returned to the power play moments later and Brooke Becker made it 4-0 with help from Knapp and Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario) 10:39 into the second. It marked Becker's first goal of the season.
-Audrey Knapp started the third period with her second goal of the contest from Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn) and Kirchmair. Knapp's two goals today tied her single-game high. She now has two goals, three times in her career. Her previous two-goal game was at Vermont on January 12, 2024.
-The Friars headed back to the power play and Lily Martinson added to the total to make it 6-0 and put Providence 3-6 on the power play for the day. Providence scored four power-play goals this weekend.
-The last time the program had back-to-back games with six or more goals was Sep. 29, 2017 (at Union, 7-3) and Oct. 1, 2017 (vs. Vermont, 6-2)
-Sophomore Taya Currie (Parkhill, Ontario) made her first-ever collegiate appearance after missing the 2023-24 season due to injury. She finished with four saves and her first-career shutout.
-The Friars shut out Saint Michael's in both games this weekend. This is the first time Providence has had back-to-back shutouts since Nov. 15, 2022 (vs. Northeastern, 3-0) and Nov. 18, 2022 (vs. Maine, 3-0).
-This is the first time since the 2021-22 season the Friars have started 2-0.
