Bridgeport, CT.-- The Merrimack men's hockey team was defeated by Quinnipiac Bobcats by a score of 5-0 in the NCAA Ice Hockey Regional Semifinals.

In the first period, Merrimack went on the penalty kill twice in the first ten minutes but were able to keep the game scoreless in part to limiting shots and the play of goaltender Zachary Borgiel who made two fantastic saves at the end of the second Bobcats powerplay, he made 14 saves in total in the first frame. The Warriors had several solid shifts, and were only denied by the post in their best chance to take the lead, but the game had no goals from either team after the first 20 minutes. In the second period, Quinnipiac took the lead off a deflection, and added their second goal under ninety seconds later.
Merrimack would have their chances, and had a powerplay near the midpoint of the period but were unable to convert on the opportunity, leaving the Warriors two goals down with twenty minutes to go.
In the third period, the Warriors go on the kill, but it was almost immediately negated as Alex Jefferies drew a hold of his own, however neither team was able to score with the extra open ice. Quinnipiac would add a third goal of the game with thirteen and a half minutes to go in the third.
The Bobcats would add another goal with 5:15 to play, and an empty netter in the final minutes to finish out the game and bring this milestone season to a close.
