ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team defeated the Boston College Eagles, 2-1, on Saturday evening in Alfond Arena.
First Goal (1-0 Maine): While on their fourth power play opportunity of the evening, the Black Bears finally found the back of the net. Jakub Sirota flipped the puck across the blue line to Grayson Arnott. The freshman defender fed Nolan Renwick who tipped home the go-ahead goal. Maine would hold the 1-0 lead at the end of 20:00.
Second Goal (2-0 Maine): Donavan Villeneuve-Houle tipped home the second goal of the night after Grayson Arnott fired a shot on net. Lynden Breen freed the puck from the boards before Arnott let go of a shot from the blue line. Villeneuve-Houle, standing in front of the Boston College net, re-directed the shot into the net.
Third Goal (2-1 Maine): The Eagles pulled to within one with their fourth power play goal of the weekend. Cutter Gauthier skated the length of the ice before going between Ostman's legs into the Maine net. At the end of 40:00, Maine held a 2-1 lead.
The third period was skated to a scoreless tie as the Black Bears completed the season sweep of the Boston College Eagles.
Notes: Victor Ostman saved 31 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Mitch Benson stopped 25 shots between the pipes for Boston College.
Maine went 1 for 5 on the power play, as the Eagles were 1-3 on their player advantages.
