HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Boston College’s Ava Thomas exploded for seven points in just two games last week, scoring three goals and setting up four others. She scored the Eagles’ lone goal in the Beanpot semifinal before racking up two goals and four helpers in an 8-2 win over Providence on Friday. BU advanced to its third-straight Beanpot title game with a 2-1 win over No. 7 Northeastern. Maeve Carey scored the game-winning goal in OT while Mari Pietersen stopped 35 shots.

Merrimack claimed its first Hockey East win of the season with a 2-1 overtime victory against No. 5 UConn. Adreanna Doucette made 25 saves while Emma Pfeffer netted a goal in each game of a weekend split with the Huskies. She now has a four-game goal streak.

Holy Cross toppled Boston University, 4-2, to move into third place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings. Naemi Herzig recorded one goal and one assist in the win. The Switzerland native is the first-ever female Olympian in Holy Cross history and will skate for her country in the 2026 Olympics in February.

Vermont took four of six points from Maine and has now skated into overtime in each of its last three games. The Catamounts are undefeated (4-0-2) in their last six outings.

The Women’s Beanpot returns to TD Garden tonight with both the third-place game and championship airing on NESN and NESN+. BC and Northeastern duel at 4:30pm while Boston University returns to the title game for the third straight year to face Harvard. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.

Ava Thomas - Boston College

Ava Thomas (Fr., F; Downington, Pa.) had seven points in two games last weekend as she posted a six-point performance in Boston College’s 8-2 win over Providence on Friday, recording two goals and four assists. It is the most points in a single game for a Hockey East player since the 2021-22 season. She also scored a goal in the Beanpot semifinals. She added 18 shots on net, the most in the country, three blocks, and was a plus-five.

Naemi Herzig - Holy Cross

Lexie Bertelsen (Fr., F; Belmont, Ont.) lit the lamp against No. 7 Northeastern on Tuesday to set BU up to eventually beat the Huskies in overtime and advance to the Beanpot championship game for the third year in a row.

Naemi Herzig (Fr., F; St. Gallen, Switzerland) recorded one goal and one assist in a 4-2 win at Boston University on Friday. She now has five multi-point games on the year, including each of the last two games.

Ashley Kokavec - Vermont

Ashley Kokavec (Jr., D; Parkland, Fla.) had three shots on goal and blocked three shots while helping the UVM penalty kill go a perfect 4-for-4 in Friday’s 2-2 draw with Maine. She then had an assist on the Catamount’s first tally and scored the game-winning goal in over- time in Saturday’s 2-1 victory.

Adreanna Doucette (So., G; Millbury, Mass.) stopped 25 shots in a 2-1 overtime win against No. 5 UConn, the Warriors first Hockey East victory of the year.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Maxim Tremblay, BC (Fr., F; Sherbrooke, Que.) Scored a second-period goal and added an assist in Boston College’s 8–2 win over Providence. She was part of a six-goal second period that broke the game open for the Eagles.

Madelyn Murphy, BC (Fr., D; Dorchester, Mass.) Recorded four points (1g, 3a) in Boston College’s 8-2 win over Providence.

Grace Campbell, BC (Sr., G; Kensington, Md.) Earned a win with 28 saves on 30 shots against Providence.

Luisa Welcke, BU (Sr., F; Heidelberg, Germany) Had one goal and one assist in a 4-2 setback to Holy Cross.

Maeve Carey, BU (Jr., D; Gloucester, Mass.) Potted her first goal of the season to lift the Terriers to a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 7 Northeastern and into the Beanpot championship game. She blocked two shots in that game and added three more in a 4-2 setback to Holy Cross.

Mari Pietersen, BU (Sr., G; Goodwood, Ont.) Made 35 stops in a 2-1 overtime win over No. 7 Northeastern in the Beanpot semifinals, including 10 in the third period and three in the extra frame. Added 14 more saves in a 4-2 setback to HC.

Livvy Dewar, UConn (Jr., F; Fredericton, N.B.) Scored two goals and had an assist in a 1-1-0 weekend against Merrimack.

Lulu Rourke, HC (Jr., F; Wellesley, Mass.) Tallied one goal and one assist during a 4-2 victory at Boston University on Friday. Her goal opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the first period and she added an assist on Alexia Moreau’s goal in the second period.

Sade Sandilands, Maine (Fr., D; Carstairs, Alta.) Set up each Maine goal in a 2-2 draw with Vermont while blocking five shots on Friday.

Kiia Lahtinen, Maine (So., G; Porvoo, Finland) Made 26 saves in a 2-2 draw with Vermont on Friday.

Emma Pfeffer, MC (Jr., F; Vienna, Austria) Netted a goal in each game of a weekend split with No. 5 UConn. She potted the lone Warriors’ tally on Thursday in an 8-1 setback before tying the game at one with just 5:49 remaining to force overtime in an eventual 2-1 win. She now has a four-game goal streak.

Lauren Lyons, MC (Fr., G; Brooklin, Ont.) Stopped 42 shots against UConn on Thursday.

Hailey Eikos, MC (Jr., D; Brooklyn Park, Minn.) Set up the game-winning overtime goal against No. 5 UConn on Friday.

Alyson Hush, UNH (Sr., F; Scarborough, Ont.) Netted the lone goal for the Wildcats in a 2-1 setback to Northeastern on Saturday, earning her team-leading fourth power-play goal of the season in the second period.

Sedona Blair, UNH (Jr., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) Made 29 saves on 31 shots in a 2-1 loss to No. 7 Northeastern on Saturday.

Éloïse Caron, NU (So., F; Saint-Hyacinthe, Que.) Tallied three points over two games for Northeastern. Caron had two goals, including a shorthanded game-winner in a 2-1 victory at UNH and an assist in a Beanpot semifinals loss to BU on Tuesday. Caron finished the week with a plus-two rating.

Kaylee Lewis, UVM (Jr., F; McKinney, Texas) After scoring a shootout-winning goal to earn an extra point in a 2-2 tie with Maine on Friday, she had a power-play goal with 5:17 left in regulation to force overtime before registering the primary assist on the overtime winning strike.

Zoe Cliche, UVM (Fr., G; Ottawa, Ont.) Anchored Vermont to four of six conference points over home weekend set with Maine, going undefeated to push the Catamounts’ unbeaten streak to six straight games. Overall, she made 47 saves on 50 shots faced for .940 save percentage. She also denied four shootout attempts on Friday in a shootout victory. She was the backbone for a UVM team that successfully killed all six of Maine’s power play opportunities over the weekend set.
