Rookies Shine as Non-Conference Play Continues

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Boston College freshman Ava Thomas continued her torrid start to her NCAA career, racking up six points on three goals and three assists to help the Eagles to two league wins. She now has 10 points (4g, 6a) in her last three games, all wins.

Vermont earned its first ever win at St. Lawrence, going 1-0-1 on the road at the 12th-ranked team in the nation. Rookie netminder Zoe Cliche stopped 25 shots in a 2-1 overtime win on Saturday, her first NCAA start. Oona Havana extended her point streak (1g, 2a) to three games with the primary assist on the game-tying goal in Friday’s 1-1 draw with 4.6 seconds remaining. The next day, she scored the game-winning overtime goal.

Northeastern took two wins, including a 4-0 shutout of Providence that saw Lisa Jonsson stop all 18 shots she faced for her eighth career shutout. Lily Shannon racked up six points across the two games, scoring twice and adding four helpers.

Maine picked up its first win of the season off a 22-save shutout from Kiia Lahtinen and a goal and an assist from freshman Isabelle Michaud.

Merrimack traveled to Lindenwood and earned a weekend road split. Goaltender Adreanna Doucette made a career-high 43 saves, including double digit stops in each period and 21 in the third, to preserve a 3-1 win on Saturday.

Lily Shannon - Northeastern

Ava Thomas (Fr., F; Downington, Pa.) exploded for six points in the first two Hockey East games of her career, picking up three goals and three assists in a weekend sweep of Holy Cross and Providence. In Friday’s 4-2 win over the Crusaders, she set up the first two BC tallies before striking for the game-winning goal in the second period. The next day, she again had the primary assist on the game’s opening goal before netting two of her own, including the decisive tally, in a 5-1 win at Providence.

Lily Shannon (Sr., F; Andover, Mass.) posted two goals, four assists and six points across two wins for Northeastern. She had one goal and one assist in the Huskies’ first Hockey East win of the season against Providence on Friday and followed up with a career-high four points in a 6-1 win against RPI. Shannon’s six assists are tied to lead all Hockey East players.

Zoe Cliche - Vermont

Zoe Cliche (Fr., G; Ottawa, Ont.) made her first career collegiate start on Saturday at #12 St. Lawrence and anchored Vermont to a 2-1 overtime win, posting 25 saves. She recorded a 0.95 GAA, .962 SV% in 62:59 of work, ultimately earning Vermont its first win of the season, and first win over a top-15 ranked opponent on the campaign.

Aurora Kahlert - New Hampshire

Aurora Kahlert (Fr., D; Maple Ridge, B.C.) logged an assist on the lone goal for the Wildcats in a 1-1 tie at Union on Friday (Oct. 10) before netting an empty net goal from the defensive zone in UNH’s 3-1 win on Saturday (Oct. 11), finishing the weekend with two points and extending her point streak (2g, 1a) to three games. Kahlert logged a team-high plus-four rating over the weekend, skating during each goal scored by the Wildcats, and finished with five blocks.

Grace Campbell - Boston College

Grace Campbell (Sr., G; Kensington, Md.) recorded 72 saves on 75 shots over two games, backstopping the Eagles to a weekend sweep in conference place. Campbell held a save percentage of .960 with a goals against average of 1.50.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Sammy Taber, BC (Jr., F; Tewksbury, Mass.) Recorded four points (1g, 3a) as the Eagles opened their league schedule with a 2-0-0 weekend against Providence and Holy Cross. She assisted on an empty-net goal in Friday’s 4-2 win over Holy Cross before dishing out two helpers and a goal in a 5-1 victory at Providence.

Madelyn Murphy, BC (Fr., D; Dorchester, Mass.) Potted her first career goal on Friday against Holy Cross as part of a five-point (2g, 3a) weekend. Murphy also recorded three blocked shots to help the Eagles’ defense hold the Crusaders and Providence to just three goals.

Riley Walsh, BU (Sr., F; Duxbury, Mass.) Dished out two assists at #8 Colgate and blocked one shot and finished plus-one on Saturday.

Lexie Bertelsen, BU (Fr., F; Belmont, Ont.) Had two points (1g, 1a) in a weekend at #8 Colgate. She scored her first career goal on Friday and set up a Terrier strike on Saturday.

Kate Meinert, BU (So., D; Moon Township, Pa.) Dished out an assist against #8 Colgate on Saturday, her first career point.

Isabelle Michaud, Maine (Fr., F; Drummond, N.B.) Currently leads Maine in points with three (2g, 1a) after a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over St. A’s on Friday. She put nine shots on net for the Black Bears.

Paige Fong, Maine (Fr., D; Pickering, Ont.) Scored her first career goal as part of a 3-0 win over St. A’s on Friday and added six shots on net.

Kiia Lahtinen, Maine (So., G; Porvoo, Finland) Posted a 22-save shutout on Friday with a 3-0 win over St. A’s, her third career shutout. She currently leads the nation in saves with 185.

Olivia Grabianowski, MC (Sr., F; Shakopee, Minn.) Had a goal and an assist in a split weekend on the road at Lindenwood, her former team.

Taylor Scott, MC (Fr., F; Lake St. Louis, Mo.) Scored her first collegiate goal in her home state on Friday against Lindenwood.

Alexandra Cservjacsenko, MC (Fr., D; Pécs, Hungary) Opened the scoring of a 3-1 win over Lindenwood with the first goal of her collegiate career on Saturday.

Adreanna Doucette, MC (So., G; Milbury, Mass.) Made a career-high 43 saves, including double digit stops in each period and 21 in the third, to preserve a 3-1 win at Lindenwood on Saturday.

Kelly Harty, UNH (Sr., F; Billerica, Mass.) Netted the opening goal for the Wildcats in both games of an undefeated weekend at Union (1-0-1), extending her goal streak to a career-high three games. Shot a .667 percentage, blocked two shots, and finished the weekend with a plus-two rating.

Callista Printz, UNH (So., D; Buffalo, N.Y.) Posted a team-high eight blocked shots over the weekend, headlined by a six block performance in the Wildcats’ 1-1 tie against Union on Friday (Oct. 10). Printz also finished with a plus-two rating.

Sedona Blair, UNH (Jr., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) On Friday (Oct. 10), Blair turned away 33-of-34 shots faced, finishing with a .971 save percentage and earning a tie, putting her season record at 1-1-1.

Noemi Martinez, UNH (Jr., G; Glen Ridge, N.J.) On Saturday (Oct. 11), Martinez stopped 31-of-32 shots in the 3-1 win over Union, closing with a .969 save percentage and improving to a 2-1-0 record.

Stryker Zablocki, NU (Fr., F; Prince Albert, Sask.) Tallied one goal and three assists over two victories for the Huskies. Zablocki posted back-to-back multi-point performances, including scoring her first collegiate goal against Providence. She finished the weekend with a plus-six rating.

Tuva Kandell, NU (So., D; Leksand, Sweden) Posted two assists against Providence and scored her first goal of the season against RPI to help guide the Huskies to two victories. Kandell finished the weekend with a plus-three rating and helped the defense earn its first shutout of the season against Providence.

Lisa Jönsson, NU (So., G; Stockholm, Sweden) Made 18 saves to claim her first shutout of the season against Providence on Friday. Jönsson’s shutout was the eighth of her career. Her 1.00 GAA leads all Hockey East netminders and is tied for third nationally.

Sami Snyder, PC (Fr., F; Waterloo, Ont.) Netted her first NCAA goal on Friday against Boston College.

Oona Havana, UVM (So., F; Turku, Finland) Extended her point streak (1g, 2a) to three games with the primary assist on the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw with 4.6 seconds remaining at #12 St. Lawrence. The next day, she scored the game-winning overtime goal, her first of the season and first collegiate overtime goal, to lift the Catamounts to their first win at St. Lawrence in program history. She had a combined five shots on goal between the two games, and four blocked shots.

Natalie Zarcone, UVM (So., D; Huntington, N.Y.) Recorded one assist on Vermont’s lone power play at No. 12 St. Lawrence on Saturday, securing her first point of the season.
