HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
Providence helped open the newest arena in college hockey as the Friars traveled to #13 St. Thomas and took a 7-6 win in overtime on Friday night. Reigning Hockey East Player of the Year Reichen Kirchmair scored four goals, including a natural hat trick in the second period and the decisive tally in overtime.
Holy Cross improved to 7-2-0 on the year with a sweep of Post. Brooke Loranger posted her second shutout of the year, and third of her career, in a 3-0 win on Friday. Freshman Violet Carroll tallied four points (2g, 2a) to extend her point streak to five games with two goals and six assists. The Crusaders have not allowed a single goal in their last three games.
UConn went undefeated at Mercyhurst to move to 5-2-1 on the season with all eight of those games coming against teams either nationally ranked or at the top of the receiving votes category in the national polls.
Boston University got its first win of the season, 4-2, over New Hampshire on Friday night. Sydney Healey boosted the Terriers to victory with two goals, including the game-winning strike, and one assist.
Vermont split a weekend series with Franklin Pierce. Ellie Simmons
secured her second career shutout on Friday by making five saves
against the Ravens. It marked her first win of 2025-26 and the second of her career.
HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Reichen Kirchmair - Providence
Reichen Kirchmair (Sr., F; Oakville, Ont.) exploded for four goals
on Friday in a 7-6 overtime victory at No. 13 St. Thomas. The reigning Hockey East Player of the Year scored a natural hat trick in the
second period, breaking a 2-2 tie and putting the Friars up, 5-2, on
the road. Kirchmair then secured the victory by scoring the overtime
goal for her fourth of the night. She is the first Hockey East player to
score four goals in one game since Feb. 2023.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Violet Carroll - Holy Cross
Violet Carroll (Fr., F; Milton, Mass.) totaled four points on one goal
and three assists in a sweep of Post. She assisted on both of the
Crusaders’ goals in Friday’s 2-0 victory over Post, including the
primary helper on the game-winning goal. She added a goal and an
assist in Sunday’s 5-0 win at Post. The rookie now leads the team in
scoring with 10 points on three goals and seven assists this season.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Maya Serdachny - UConn
Maya Serdachny (Jr., D; Edmonton, Alta.) scored the game-tying
goal in the third period on the power play in a 1-1 draw at Mercyhurst. On Saturday, she set up UConn’s first goal and then found the
back of the net again to put UConn up 2-0 in Saturday’s 4-3 victory
over the Lakers.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Brooke Loranger - Holy Cross
Brooke Loranger (Sr., G; Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) picked up her
third career shutout, and second of the season, by making 13 saves
in Friday’s 2-0 victory over Post. She now stands 3-1-0 on the year
with a 1.01 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Sage Babey, BC (So., F; Saskatoon, Sask.) Netted both goals in Boston College’s 2-1 win at Merrimack, including the game-winner in the second period. The sophomore forward recorded her first career multi-goal game and was named the contest’s first star in her first game against her former team.
Grace Campbell, BC (Sr., G; Kensington, Md.) Backstopped Boston College to a 2-1 road win at Merrimack, making 19 saves on 20 shots. The senior goaltender turned aside all 13 shots she faced over the final two periods to secure her fourth win of the season.
Sydney Healey, BU (Sr., F; Arthur, Ont.) Helped BU to its first win of the season with a 4-2 victory against New Hampshire with two goals, including the game-winning strike, and one assist.
Lucy Thiessen (Fr., D; Alexandria, Va.) Potted her first collegiate goal and got her first NCAA point against New Hampshire on Friday, tying the game at 2-2.
Keira Healey, BU (So., D; Arthur, Ont.) Led the Terriers with three blocked shots and a plus-three rating in a 4-2 win over New Hamp- shire.
Michelle Pasiechnyk, BU (Gr., G; Ottawa, Ont.) Made 27 saves to help BU get its win of the season and her first win as a Terrier.
Claire Murdoch, UConn (So., F; Toronto, Ont.) After being held scoreless in Friday’s tie at Mercyhurst, Murdoch recorded a goal and set up the game-winning goal in UConn’s 4-3 victory at Mercyhurst for her first multi-point game this season.
True Thompson, UConn (Fr., D; Sherwood Park, Alta.) Assisted on the game-tying goal in Friday’s 1-1 draw at Mercyhurst. Thompson added another helper in Saturday’s win over Mercyhurst, for her first two points this season.
Tia Chan, UConn (Gr., G; Hamilton, Ont.) Made 27 saves in Friday’s 1-1 tie at Mercyhurst. She also denied both of Mercyhurst’s shootout attempts. On Saturday, Chan made 14 of her 24 saves in the third period to preserve the UConn lead in an eventual 4-3 win.
Kaitlin Sullivan, HC (So., D; Needham, Mass.) Netted her first goal of the season with the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 5-0 victory at Post. She blocked two shots in the weekend sweep and is a key part of the defensive unit that did not give up any goals on the week, while allowing just 31 total shots in goal in two games, and has now had three shutouts in a row.
Adreanna Doucette, MC (So., G; Millbury, Mass.) Posted her third straight game with at least 42 saves in a 2-1 setback against Boston College on Saturday. She has now made 127 saves in her last three starts while allowing just four goals for a .969 save percent- age.
Alyson Hush, UNH (Sr., F; Scarborough, Ont.) Logged her third goal of the season and her fifth helper of the year in a 4-2 setback to BU, bringing her point total to eight through the first eight contests of the year.
Kristen Hartman, UNH (Fr., F; Newmarket, Ont.) Recorded her second goal of the year in the Wildcats’ 4-2 loss at Boston University.
Callista Printz, UNH (So., D; Buffalo, N.Y.) Extended her team-high in blocks to 17 with a three-block performance against the BU Terriers on Friday, alone with five shots on net.
Sedona Blair, UNH (Jr., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) Stopped 36 of 39 shots she faced from BU in a 4-2 setback, posting a .923 save percentage.
Cristina Cavaliere, PC (Sr., D; Mississauga, Ont.) Dished out two assists in Friday’s 7-6 overtime in against No. 13 St. Thomas, including the primary helper on the goal that forced the extra frame as the Friars scored with an empty net with just 31 seconds re- maining in regulation. She also blocked six shots on the weekend split.
Stella Retrum, UVM (Jr., F; Maple Grove, Minn.) In a weekend split against Franklin Pierce, Retrum posted three assists and five shots on goal. In Friday’s 3-0 win, she recorded her first two assists as a Catamount along with first multi-point game of the season.
Brooke George, UVM (Jr., D; East Montpelier, Vt.) Netted her first goal of the season on Saturday against Franklin Pierce, Vermont’s lone tally in a 3-1 setback. Over a two-game weekend split with the Ravens, she also put four shots on net, including a career-high three on Saturday.
Ellie Simmons, UVM (Jr., G; Buffalo, N.Y.) Secured her second career shutout on Friday against Franklin Pierce by making five saves against the Ravens. It marked her first win of 2025-26 and the second of her career.
