2025 Hockey East Women's Tournament Field Set
23rd Annual Tournament Begins Wednesday

AMESBURY, Mass. - The Hockey East Association announced today the tournament seeding and pairings for the 2025 Hockey East Women’s Tournament. The postseason will once again feature all 10 programs competing in a single-elimination format. Tickets are available via the host institution for each game and television information will be announced in the coming days.

The Opening Round of the league’s 23rd postseason begins Wednesday, February 26 with two games to determine the quarterfinal pairings on Saturday, March 1. #10 Merrimack (8-22-4/5-18-4 HE) travels to #7 New Hampshire (15-16-3/11-14-2 HE) at 7:00 p.m. on NESN as the Warriors put their unblemished 3-0 record in the Opening Round on the line. The Wildcats swept the regular-season series by winning all three games in regulation. The two teams have met just once in the playoffs, a 4-1 Merrimack win in the 2022 Opening Round.

#9 Holy Cross (10-19-4/6-17-4 HE) will travel to #8 Vermont (8-24-2/7-18-2 HE) for their first clash in the Hockey East Tournament at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Crusaders swept the Catamounts in the regular season for the first time in program history, allowing just two goals in three games. Holy Cross captured its first-ever Hockey East playoff win last season, advancing through to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion UConn. Vermont appears in the Opening Round for the first time.

Two quarterfinal match ups are already known. #3 Boston College (20-12-2/16-9-2 HE) has earned a top-four seed in the tournament each year since 2010, the longest such streak in league history and will play host to #6 Maine (11-20-3/10-14-3 HE). It will be the fourth all-time postseason meeting between the programs, all coming in quarterfinal series, with the Eagles owning a 3-1 mark. Boston College took three wins over the Black Bears during the regular season by a combined score of 13-2.

#5 Northeastern (20-13-1/15-11-1 HE) will hit the road to #4 Providence (20-11-3/16-9-2 HE), the Huskies’ first quarterfinal away from home since 2011. Northeastern carries an all-time postseason mark of 5-1 against the Friars, and the match up renews a recent rivalry between the two squads who have clashed twice in the championship game since 2021. Providence swept Northeastern, 3-0-0, in the regular season and the Friars were only Hockey East team able to top the Huskies three times. Providence is one of the hottest teams in the nation, going 13-3-0 in 2025.

#1 UConn (21-11-2/19-6-2 HE) claimed the top seed and regular season crown for the second consecutive year after winning both for the first time in program history last season. The Huskies have advanced to the title game in four of the last seven years. UConn will welcome the lowest remaining seed from the Opening Round on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. on NESN. The other Wednesday winner will travel to Walter Brown Arena to face off with #2 Boston University (21-11-2/18-7-2 HE), which finished second in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings by a single point.

The 2025 Hockey East Women’s Tournament Championship will be played Saturday, March 8 at 12:00pm at UConn’s Toscano Family Ice Forum. The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPNEWS and tickets are on sale now.
