HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Boston University swept Maine in a two-game set at Agganis Arena as Callie Shanahan stopped 37 of 38 shots she faced in her two starts against the Black Bears. Rookie Lola Reid had a three-point series and has now recorded at least one point in five of seven games on the year while leading BU with eight points on three goals and five assists.

#13 Northeastern took five of six points from Holy Cross in dramatic fashion last weekend, scoring twice with an extra attacker in the final 2:45 to tie the game, 4-4, on Friday and using a four-goal third period on Saturday to topple the Crusaders, 4-2. Taze Thompson had five points, including three in the third periods assisting on the game-winning goal Saturday and the game-tying goal with just 1:11 remaining in regulation on Friday.

New Hampshire swept Union behind 36 saves from Sedona Blair, who allowed just one goal on the weekend. She made 21 saves in Saturday’s 2-1 win to earn her second shutout of the young season. Graduate defenseman Maddie Crowley-Cahill had an assist and two blocks in the sweep, setting up the game-winning goal on Saturday.

Providence took down #10 Quinnipiac on Tuesday as Sarah Davies scored the game-winning goal with just 5:00 left in regulation. She added another tally in a 3-2 setback to #8 UConn.

Boston College took down Merrimack, 2-1, on Saturday. Grace Campbell saved 15 of the 16 shots she saw in the win.

Taze Thompson - Northeastern

Taze Thompson (Sr., F; Sherwood Park, Alta.) posted one goal and four assists over two games against Holy Cross. Thompson posted back-to-back multi-point performances, including tying her career-high with three points on Friday. Three of her assists game in the third periods assisting on the game-winning goal Saturday and the game-tying goal with just 1:11 remaining in regulation on Friday.


PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Lola Reid - Boston University

Lola Reid (Fr., F; Lincoln, Neb.) had a three-point series in a sweep of Maine, scoring the first goal in a 2-1 win on Friday and setting up both goals in Saturday’s 2-0 triumph. She has now recorded at least one point in five of seven games on the year and leads BU with eight points on three goals and five assists.

Maddie Crowley-Cahill - New Hampshire

Maddie Crowley-Cahill (Gr., D; Haverhill, Mass.) recorded an assist, six blocks and a plus-two rating in UNH’s two-game home sweep of Union. The assist was her first point as a Wildcat. She set up the game-winning goal and was credited with six blocks in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win Saturday. The six blocks are the most by any ‘Cat in a game this season. She also had a plus-one rating in UNH’s 2-1 win Friday.

Sedona Blair - New Hampshire

Sedona Blair (So., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) stopped 36 of 37 shots for a 0.50 GAA and .973 save percentage to backstop UNH to a weekend sweep of Union. She kept the Garnet Chargers scoreless on two power play opportunities. She made 21 saves to record her second shutout of the season and seventh career in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win Saturday. The sophomore made one save with Union skating with an extra skater in the final 2:03 to preserve the one-goal advantage. One night earlier, Sedona made 15 saves in a 2-1 victory. Her active shutout streak is at 75 minutes, 43 seconds.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Gaby Roy, BC (Gr., F; Marshfield, Mass.) On Saturday, Gaby Roy buried the equalizer against Merrimack in an eventual 2-1 victory. It was her second goal of the season, starting a two-game point streak.

Jade Arnone, BC (Jr., D; Sherborn, Mass.) Scored the game-winning goal for the Eagles in Satuday’s 2-1 win at Merrimack. Arnon picked up her first goal of the season and the eighth of her career.

Grace Campbell, BC (Jr., G; Kensington, Md.) Saved 15 out of the 16 shots she saw in a 2-1 road win at Merrimack on Saturday, her first conference win of the year.

Lilli Welcke, BU (Jr., F; Heidelberg, Germany) Scored the game-winning goal in Friday’s 2-1 win over Maine, while winning 24 of 32 faceoffs in the weekend sweep, including 15-of-17 on Friday.

Tamara Giaquinto, BU (Gr., D; Toronto, Ont.) Scored a power play goal in Saturday’s 2-0 shutout of Maine. She blocked two shots in Friday’s 2-1 win over the Black Bears and now has the second most points on the team with five.

Callie Shanahan, BU (Sr., G; Commerce, Mich.) Went 2-0 in a weekend series against Maine, recording her second shutout of the season and fifth of her career in Saturday’s 2-0 win with 23 saves. She made 37 stops on 38 shots on the weekend while allowing only one goal against.

Martha Mobarak, UConn (So., F; Chicago, Ill.) Netted the game winner in UConn’s 3-2 win at Providence on Friday. The goal marks the sophomore’s first career goal helping the Huskies improve to 3-0 -0 in Hockey East.

Tia Chan, UConn (Sr., G; Hamilton, Ont.) Made 28 saves on 30 shots in a 3-2 win at Providence, moving to 3-1 in her starts this season.

Margaux Favre, MC (Fr., G; Fribourg, Switzerland) Made 27 saves in Merrimack’s 2-1 loss to Boston College on Saturday.

Emily Crovo, HC (So., F; Melrose, Mass.) Netted two tallies in Friday’s 4-4 tie with #13 Northeastern and added an assist in Saturday’s 4-2 setback. She added six shots on net and two blocked shots.

Amanda Aslan, HC (Fr., F; St. Johns, Fla.) Dished out two assists in Friday’s 4-4 tie with #13 Northeastern. She blocked five shots across the two-game series and fired three on net.

Emma Min, HC (Sr., D; London, Ont.) Led the Holy Cross defense with five blocks on the weekend. She earned a point on an assist to teammate Emily Crovo’s second goal in game one of the series.

Courtney Lilley, UNH (Fr., F; Wakefield, Mass.) Broke a scoreless tie at 1:44 of the third period of Saturday’s win at Union, with what proved to be the game-winning goal. She finished the game with two shots on net and a plus-one rating. She scored her first career goal by skating onto a loose puck in the low slot and depositing it into the open net.

Lisa Jonsson, NU (Fr., G; Stockholm, Sweden) Posted 17 saves to record her first NCAA victory on Saturday against Holy Cross. Jönsson was making just her second NCAA start and first at home in the win.

Jules Constantinople, NU (Jr., D; East Haven, Conn.) Recorded one goal and one assist across a five-point weekend for Northeastern over Holy Cross. Constantinople scored on the power-play on Friday and tallied an assist on Saturday. She also posted three blocks across the two games.

Sarah Davies, PC (Jr., F; Mississauga, Ont.) Scored two goals in a split week, including the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over #10 Quinnipiac on Tuesday with just 5:00 left in regulation. She added another tally in a 3-2 setback to #8 UConn.

Lara Beecher, UVM (So., F; Buffalo, N.Y.) Scored the lone goal of a 1-0 win for Vermont over #7 St. Lawrence.

Jane Gervais, UVM (Gr., G; Valcourt, Que.) Made 36 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over #7 St. Lawrence.
