Holy Cross Captures First Win Over BC; Eight Teams Earn Points

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Holy Cross claimed its first-ever win over Boston College on Friday night, toppling the Eagles, 4-1, in Worcester. Rookie defender Hannah Deck scored the game-winning goal, her first career tally, to lift the Crusaders to the victory. Brooke Loranger made 28 saves in the win. Boston College bounced back the next night with a 5-1 win as Bailey Callaway earned first career victory with 22 saves on 23 shots.

#9 UConn swept New Hampshire in a two-game set to kick off their Hockey East seasons. The Husky goaltending tandem of Megan Warrener and Tia Chan allowed just one goal across two victories, making 20 and 25 saves, respectively.

Merrimack earned a pair of road victories at Vermont, winning by a 3-2 margin in both games. Rookie Chloe Goofers (1g, 2a) and grad student Rachel Bjorgan (2g, 1a) each picked up three points in the series sweep.

Maine took four points from visiting Providence at Alfond Arena senior Alyssa Wruble scored a goal in each game, while Courtney Colarullo enjoyed a two-point night in Saturday’s 3-2 win, netting the game-winning goal and adding an assist. Providence’s Audrey Knapp potted the overtime winner in Friday’s 3-2 victory.

Boston University and #12 Northeastern split a cross-town weekend series, each taking a 4-0 decision at home. Husky rookie Éloïse Caron scored two goals in Friday’s victory at Matthews Arena while Paige Taborski stopped 26 saves in a shutout win. The next night, Callie Shanahan pitched a 25-save perfect game, the first time BU has shut out Northeastern since 2010 and delivering BU its first victory over NU of any kind since 2021.

Claire Murdoch - UConn

Claire Murdoch (Fr., F; Toronto, Ont.) found the back of the net in both games in a weekend sweep of UNH, while tallying three assists for five points on the weekend. Murdoch was instrumental in UConn’s 5-1 over UNH on Friday, scoring a goal and notching two assists. The Toronto, Ontario native was involved in both UConn goals in Saturday’s 2-0 win, scoring a goal in her second consecutive game, and recording an assist.


PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Éloïse Caron - Northeastern

Éloïse Caron (Fr., F; Saint-Hyacinthe, Que.) posted two goals in a 4-0 victory over Boston University. Her two-goal outing marked the first multi-goal game of her NCAA career. Caron is tied to lead all Hockey East players with four goals and seven points through just six games played.

Hannah Deck - Holy Cross

Hannah Deck (Fr., D; Chestermere, Alta.) scored her first career goal on the power-play Friday night, netting a one-timer at 9:06 in the second period. She helped the Crusaders to a 4-1 win in game one and was credited with the game-winning strike. It was the first time the Crusaders have defeated Boston College in program history.

Callie Shanahan - Boston University

Callie Shanahan (Sr., G; Commerce, Mich.) earned her fourth career shutout with a 25-save blanking of #12/13 Northeastern, the first time BU has shutout the Huskies since 2010 and the first Terrier win over Northeastern since 2021.

Gaby Roy, BC (Gr., F; Marshfield, Mass.) Scored a goal and added an assist in a 1-1-0 weekend against Holy Cross.

Lauren Glaser, BC (Fr., F; Marlborough, Mass.) Netted her first career NCAA goal against Holy Cross, securing a 5-1 victory for the Eagles with an empty-net goal.

Bailey Callaway, BC (So., G; Jackson, Wyo.) Earned first career win in a 5-1 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday. She stopped 22 of 23 shots faced.

Sydney Healey, BU (Jr., F; Arthur, Ont.) In a 4-0 win over #12/13 Northeastern, she was the only Terrier to have multiple points (1G, 1A). She added five shots on net and was a plus-two in the game and had another two shots on goal in Friday’s setback at Northeastern.

Lola Reid, BU (Fr., F; Lincoln, Neb.) Scored the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 4-0 win over #12/13 Northeastern. In total, she had four shots on goal and was a plus-one in the contest.

Tamara Giaquinto, BU (Gr., D; Toronto, Ont.) Assisted on BU’s fourth goal, an empty-netter to secure a 4-0 win over #12/13 Northeastern on Saturday. She finished as a plus-two in the game and put three shots on net and blocked one. In Friday’s 4-0 loss at #12/13 NU she had one a shot and blocked one.

Maya Serdachny, UConn (So., D; Edmonton, Alta.) Recorded her first career goal in UConn’s 2-0 win over UNH on Saturday. The sophomore tallied five shots on the weekend.

Tia Chan, UConn (Sr., G; Hamilton, Ont.) Earned a 2-0 win over UNH on Saturday. The veteran goaltender had 25 saves in the game, recording the Huskies first shutout this season. Chan made 15 of her 25 saves in the third period shutting down the UNH offense.

Madison Michals, HC (Sr., F; Neeham, Mass.) Had two assists on Friday to help Holy Cross to a 4-1 win over the Eagles, the first time the Crusaders have defeated Boston College in program history.

Emma Min, HC (Sr., D; London, Ont.) Led the Holy Cross defense with six blocks in a split weekend with Boston College and added an assist in Friday’s win.

Brooke Loranger, HC (Jr., G: Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) Started both games of a split series with Boston College, earning the win in game one as the Crusaders defeated Boston College for the first time in program history. She made 28 saves in the win and 60 total on the weekend. She logged a 2.52 goals-against average with a .923 save percentage.

Alyssa Wruble, Maine (Sr., F; Bethlehem, Pa.) Scored a goal in each game of a four-point series against Providence. She put five shots on goal and blocked three shots and earned a plus-one rating.

Stephanie Jacob, Maine (Fr., F; Winnipeg, Man.) Netted the game-tying goal, the first goal of her career, in Friday’s eventual 3-2 overtime setback to Providence before adding a primary assist in Saturday’s 3-2 win. She had eight shots on goal and blocked one shot.

Courtney Colarullo, Maine (Sr., D; Ayer, Mass.) Enjoyed a two-point game in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Providence, netting the game-winning goal and adding an assist. She had two shots on goal, two blocks, and was a plus-three in the victory.

Lily Yovetich, NU (Gr., D; Los Angeles, Calif.) Posted two assists in Friday’s 4-0 win against the Terriers. Yovetich’s two assists tied a career-high and marked her first multi-point outing of the season. Yovetich also posted three blocks over two games against BU.

Paige Taborski, NU (Sr., G; Roscoe, Ill.) Posted 26 saves to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 victory over BU. Taborski’s shutout marked her first of the season and second of her career.

Audrey Knapp, PC (So., F; Stevens Point, Wis.) Struck with the overtime winning goal in a 3-2 win at Maine on Friday.

Hannah Johnson, PC (Gr., D; Readfield, Maine) Had a goal and two assists in a split weekend at Maine.
