HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
New Hampshire earned a critical five points in league play with a 1-0-1 weekend against Boston College and Boston University. Rookie netminder Sedona Blair stopped 61 of 64 shots for the Wildcats, who now sit fourth in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings.
Brooke Becker played hero for Providence in a two-game set at Vermont by scoring the game-tying goal twice on Saturday, locking the game at 2-2 just 45 seconds after Vermont took a 2-1 lead in the second and forced overtime with 32 seconds remaining, just 38 seconds after Vermont went up 3-2 with 1:10 left in regulation. Lindsay Bochna scored five points (2g, 3a) for the Friars in the sweep of the Catamounts.
Maine captured four points in league play thanks in part to 44 saves, including a 21-stop shutout in a 1-0 win, from senior goaltender Jorden Mattison, who made her first start since Nov. 11.
UConn Head Coach Chris Mackenzie became the winningest coach in program history on Saturday, claiming his 164th overall win as bench boss of the Huskies. UConn currently sits just one point out of first place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings with a game in hand on first-place Boston College.

Brooke Becker - Providence
Brooke Becker (Sr., D; Orchard Park, N.Y.) finished the weekend
with three points (2g, 1a). She scored the game-tying goal twice on
Saturday, locking the game at 2-2 just 45 seconds after Vermont
took a 2-1 lead in the second and forced overtime with 32 seconds
remaining, just 38 seconds after Vermont went up 3-2 with 1:10 left
in regulation.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Sedona Blair - New Hampshire
Sedona Blair (Fr., G; Eden Prairie, Minn.) went 1-0-1 with a 1.44 GAA and
.953 save percentage as she stopped 61 of 64 shots in 125 minutes, giving
UNH a crucial five points in league play. She backboned UNH’s perfect
8-for-8 penalty kill with eight saves. Blair made 31 saves, including 16 in the
third period and two more in overtime, in a 2-2 tie against No. 13 BC. She
then denied the Eagles in all seven rounds of the shootout to lead UNH to
a 1-0 win and extra point in the league standings. Blair stopped 10 shots
all three periods to finish with 30 saves and propel UNH to a 4-1 road win
against BU. Her shutout bid was foiled with 6:50 remaining in the game.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Raice Szott - Merrimack
Raice Szott (Sr., D; Daysland, Alberta) potted her second career
goal that proved to be the game-winning strike in her 103rd career
appearance for the Warriors on Saturday, leading Merrimack to a 2-0
win over Holy Cross. She anchored a defense that held the Crusaders to just 13 shots on net over the final two periods to protect the
two-goal lead.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Jorden Mattison - Maine
Jorden Mattison (Sr., G; Fenwick, Ont.) in just her second and third
starts since Nov. 11, posted a 21-save shutout over #14 Northeastern in Friday’s 1-0 victory, her second blank sheet of the season.
She followed up with 23 saves in 1-1 draw with the Huskies on
Saturday. She backboned Maine to four points in the Army ROTC
Hockey East Standings and the Black Bears sit just four points out
from a home quarterfinal spot in the Hockey East Tournament.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Lilli Welcke, BU (So., F; Heidelberg, Germany) Had a hand in both of BU’s goals at #12 UConn, scoring once and adding assist, and also earned an assist in a 4-3 win at Maine.
Tamara Giaquinto, BU (Sr., D; Toronto, Ont.) Had primary assists on both of BU’s goals at #12 UConn to post the first multi-point game of her career.
Ashley Allard, UConn (Fr., F; Ottawa, Ont.) Finished a 2-0-0 weekend with one goal and two assists for three points. In addition Allard won 52% of her faceoffs across two games.
Claire Peterson, UConn (Gr., D; San Jose, Calif.) Had two points (1g, 1a) and three blocked shots and was part of a blue line that allowed just three goals in two games across a 2-0-0 weekend for UConn.
Megan Warrener, UConn (Jr., G; Stoney Creek, Ont.) Collected a pair of wins while making 51 total saves and allowing just three goals against Merrimack and Boston University.
Mikayla Boarder, Maine (Fr., F; Richland, Wash.) Scored her fourth goal of the season Monday in a 4-3 setback to BU before dishing out the game-winning assist in a 1-0 win over No. 14 Northeastern.
Alex Ferguson, MC (So., F; Burlington, Ont.) Added two points (1g, 1a) in a 1-1-0 weekend for Merrimack, with both points coming in a 2-0 win over Holy Cross on Saturday. She set up the game-winning goal before scoring an insurance tally on the power-play.
Maria Lindberg, MC (Fr., F; Stockholm, Sweden) Netted her third goal of the season and Merrimack’s only tally in a 2-1 loss to UConn on Friday.
Calli Hogarth, MC (So., G; Barrie, Ont.) Made 55 saves on 57 shots in a 1-1-0 weekend, including 31 stops in a 2-0 shutout win over Holy Cross. This was her sixth win of the season and fourth shutout.
Chavonne Truter, UNH (Sr., F; Uxbridge, Ont.) Recorded a goal and an assist for a total of two points to lead UNH to a 1-0-1 week and five points in Hockey East play with a 4-1 win at BU and 2-2 tie with No. 13 BC. She also posted two blocks, a plus-one rating and six faceoff wins. Truter’s unassisted goal gave UNH a 2-0 lead at 10:51 of the first period that proved to be the game-winning goal at Boston University. She started the scoring sequence on UNH’s next goal as her stick-check on the forecheck jarred the puck free.
Charli Kettyle, UNH (Sr., D; Perth, Ont.) Recorded and assist in both games last week to finish with two points as well as seven blocks and a plus-four rating. Kettyle set up the game’s first goal that sparked UNH to a 4-0 lead and 4-1 win at Boston University. She also led all skaters with five blocks.
Lindsay Bochna, PC (Sr., F; Toronto, Ont.) Racked up five points (2g, 3a) in a pair of wins at Vermont last weekend. On Saturday, she had the primary assist on the game-tying goal with just 32 seconds left before scoring the overtime goal nine seconds into the extra frame.
Hope Walinski, PC (Jr., F; Lincoln, R.I.) Posted 33 saves and a 2-0-0 record at Vermont last weekend, including a 20-save shutout in Friday’s 2-0 win.
Kaylee Lewis, UVM (Fr., F; McKinney, Texas) Scored two goals on Saturday night in Vermont’s overtime loss to Providence. Lewis added a blocked shot to her stat line as well.
