AMESBURY, Mass. - The Hockey East Association today announced its 2022-23 Women’s All-Star Teams as voted by the women’s league’s 10 head coaches as part of the celebration of the 21st annual Hockey East Tournament.
Northeastern graduate forward Alina Mueller (Winterthur, Switzerland) was the lone player was selected unanimously to the All-Hockey East First Team. Joining Mueller on the First Team are goaltender Gwyneth Philips (Athens, Ohio/Northeastern), defenders Megan Carter (Milton, Ont./Northeastern) and Sini Karjalainen (Posio, Finland/Vermont) and forwards Sarah Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden/Providence) and Theresa Schafzahl (Weiz, Austria/Vermont). Philips was named Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Year for her achievement, the fifth straight year a Husky goaltender has been so honored.
Named All-Hockey East Second Team are goaltenders Abigail Levy (Congers, N.Y./Boston College), defenders Cayla Barnes (Eastvale, Calif./Boston College) and Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine/Providence) and forwards Chloé Aurard (Villard-de-Lans, France/Northeastern), Hannah Bilka (Coppell, Texas/Northeastern) and Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y./Northeastern).
Getting nods on the All-Star Third Team are goaltender Tia Chan (Hamilton, Ont./UConn) and Jessie McPherson (Chatham, Ont./Vermont), defenders Abbey Marohn (St. Joseph, Mich./Northeastern) and Maude Poulin-Labelle (Sherbrooke, Ont./Northeastern) and forwards Kira Juodikis (Lasalle, Ont./New Hampshire), Katy Knoll (Amherst, N.Y./Northeastern), Natalie Mlynkova (Zlin, Czechia/Vermont), and Abby Newhook (St. John’s, N.L./Boston College.)
The 2023 Hockey East Women’s Tournament continues tomorrow with quarterfinal games beginning at 1:00 p.m. All games will be streamed live on ESPN+ and the title game will air nationally on ESPNU.
Hockey East will announce finalists for the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards on Monday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. The winners of those awards will then be revealed prior to the semifinals on Wednesday, March 1.
