Beecher Tabbed as Top Rookie, Barnes Best Defender, Philips Is Honored Goaltender

HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Chloe Aurard - Northeastern
Graduate, Forward; Villard-de-Lans, France

Aurard was third among all Hockey East players with 10 points off of three goals and seven assists in just six games during January, entering the top five all-time scoring lead- ers in league history. Aurard posted an overtime game-win- ner against Boston College and had one power play goal. Aurard has 38 points on the season, second-most among Hockey East players and leads all league players with six power play goals and two shorthanded goals.

PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE MONTH

Lara Beecher - Vermont
Forward; Buffalo, N.Y.

Beecher had four goals and two assists in January helping the Catamounts solidify their top-15 ranking in the coun- try and second place position in Hockey East. Beecher scored the game-winning goal on January 6 against the Friars. UVM won three straight games against the Friars.

ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE MONTH

Cayla Barnes - Boston College
Senior; Eastvale, Calif.

Barnes finished January with six points on two goals and four assists, ranking second among league defenders. She tied for league lead among blue liners with a plus-seven rating and finished 10th overall in the league with 25 shots on goal in the month. She added 12 blocked shots.

STOP IT GOALTENDING GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH

Gwyneth Philips - Northeastern
Senior; Athens, Ohio

Philips went 6-0-0 during January, while also posting four shutouts. She allowed just two goals while posting an NCAA-best 0.33 goals against average and .981 save percentage. She also led the NCAA with six wins, four shutouts and just two goals against. Philips leads all goaltenders nationally on the season with a 0.78 GAA, 24 wins, nine shutouts and a .961 save percentage.
