Vermont Topples Boston College for First Time Since 2009

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Vermont earned its first victory over Boston College since 2009 on Friday night, taking a 3-1 decision from the Eagles. Jessie McPherson made 15 saves in the win, which moved the reigning Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year to 4-3-0 on the year with a .907 save percentage and 2.04 goals against average. First-year forward Evelyne Blais-Savoie scored the game-winning strike, ending the first half of the year with points in three of her last four outings, including two tallies, and two Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week titles in the last three weeks.

Holy Cross ended the first half with a 4-2 win over Brown Friday night. Carlie Magier became the first Crusader to enjoy a multi-goal outing this season as the senior forward found the back of the net twice, including the game-winning strike. Kailey Langefels dished out a pair of helpers, entering the break by scoring her first two points of the year. She also anchored a Crusader defense by blocking five shots on the night.

The women’s league will now enter the holiday break, resuming play on Dec. 31 when Vermont visits Providence at 1:00pm in a game on NESN. League play begins in earnest the following weekend with five league contests on Friday, Jan. 7 and Saturday, Jan. 8.

Evelyne Blais-Savoie (Fr., F; San Jose, Calif.) scored the game-winning strike in a tilt that saw Vermont earn its first win over Boston College since 2009. She ended the first half of the year with points in three of her last four outings, including two tallies.

Jessie McPherson (So., G; Chatham, Ont.) made 15 saves Friday night against Boston College, backboning the Catamounts to a 3-1 victory. It was Vermont’s first win over the Eagles since 2009. Courtney Correia, BU (Sr., F; Whitby, Ont.) Extended her point streak to four games with the primary assist on both BU strikes in a 3-2 setback to Yale.

Jada Brenon, HC (Sr., G; Pendleton, N.Y.) Made 29 saves in a 4-2 victory over Brown on Friday.

Michela Lio, HC (Fr., F; Toronto, Ont.) Had a pair of assists that helped give the Crusaders a 4-2 win against Brown to enter the holiday break.

Natalie Mlynkova, UVM (So., F; Zlin, Czech Republic) Assisted two goals, including the sole helper on the game-winning strike, in a game that saw Vermont earn its first win over Boston College since 2009. She ended the first half of the year with points in three of her last four outings.
