HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
UConn continued its best start to a season, improving to 10-1-0 with a pair of victories over Boston University. Samantha Carpentier-Yelle stopped 42 of 43 shots she faced, improving her personal mark to 8-1-0. The Terriers were previously undefeated in league play. On Saturday, Carpentier-Yelle pitched a 15-save shutout, her second of the season.
Northeastern claimed five points in league play over top-contender Providence with a 5-1 win on Friday before earning an extra point with a shootout win after a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Alina Mueller, in her return to the Husky lineup since an off-season injury, scored three points on one goal and two assists, helping Northeastern to a 5-1 win at Providence. She fired eight shots on net across the two games, while going 29-6 at the faceoff dot.
Aerin Frankel broke yet another Northeastern program record this weekend stopping 62 of 64 shots faced against Providence in a 1-0-1 weekend. With her 62 saves, she surpassed the mark of 2,808 career saves, the old program record set in 2015 by Chloe Desjardins, raising the bar to 2,812 saves, and counting. She is now 432 saves away from setting a new career saves record in Hockey East play, having stopped 1,893 in conference action.
Merrimack earned its third consecutive victory with a 5-3 win over Holy
Cross on Saturday. Alexa Pongo found the back of the net twice, including for the game-winning tally and her first two goals in a Warriors uniform.
Emma Gorski picked up her third consecutive victory with a 26-save performance and now has a 1.00 GAA during that stretch.

Skylar Fontaine - Northeastern
Skylar Fontaine (Gr., D; East Greenwich, R.I.) had a career night just
minutes from her hometown in Providence as she notched just her second
career four-point game, dishing out four assists in NU’s 5-1 win over Providence on Friday. In Saturday’s contest, the program leader for defender
points hit another milestone when she tallied her 50th career goal with 0.9
seconds left on the clock in the first period, on the power play. She finished
the weekend with a team-high five (1g, 4a) points and seven blocked shots.

Alexa Pongo - Merrimack
Alexa Pongo, MC (Fr., F; Midhurst, Ont.) Found the back of the net twice,
including for the game-winning tally and her first two goals in a Warriors
uniform, to help extend Merrimack’s winning streak to three games in a 5-3
victory over Holy Cross on Saturday

Taylor Wabick - UConn
Taylor Wabick (Sr., D; Winnipeg, Man.) dished out two assists and fired
five shots on net to help UConn to a pair of wins over the Boston University
Terriers who were previously unbeaten in Hockey East play. She set up
the game-winning goal in Friday’s 2-1 home victory just 3:02 into the third
period.

Aerin Frankel - Northeastern
Aerin Frankel (Gr., G; Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) broke yet another Northeastern program record this weekend stopping 62 of 64 shots faced against
Providence in a 1-0-1 weekend. With her 62 saves, she surpassed the
mark of 2,808 career saves, the old program record set in 2015 by Chloe
Desjardins, raising the bar to 2,812 saves, and counting. Frankel posted
a 0.96 GAA and .969 save percentage in her undefeated weekend, and
also stonewalled two penalty shot attempts in the game two shootout,
allowing the Huskies to pick up the extra point, 2-0. She is now 432 saves
away from setting a new career saves record in Hockey East play, having
stopped 1,893 in conference action.

Natalie Snodgrass, UConn (Gr., G; Eagan, Minn.) Netted the lone goal, an unassisted tally, in UConn’s 1-0 victory on the road at Boston University on Saturday.
Allison Reeb, MC (Jr., F; Bellingham, Wash.) Picked up two points, one goal and one assist, to help Merrimack earn its third consecutive win with a 5-3 victory over Holy Cross.
Courtney Maud, MC (Sr., F; Georgetown, Ont.) Dished out two helpers, one coming on the power play to open the game’s scoring 14 minutes into the first , as the Warriors toppled Holy Cross, 5-3, on Saturday.
