Mueller Powers Northeastern to Pair of Wins

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Junior forward Alina Mueller (Winterthur, Switzerland) dished out two game-winning assists for Northeastern in two games last week. She enjoyed a three-point game on Sunday in a 4-3 overtime win against Maine, including the set up to the overtime strike. Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) made her Huskies debut on Sunday, scoring a goal in her first outing in the black and red.

UConn swept New Hampshire with a pair of shutouts. Tia Chan (Hamilton, Ont.) did not allow a goal for the second time in her career. While Chan was not officially credited with a shutout due to an equipment issue that required her to relinquish 33 seconds of game time in net, she stopped all 24 shots on net from UNH.

Boston College picked up two more wins in league play, toppling Holy Cross in a home-and-home series. Kelly Browne (Burlington, Mass.) led Hockey East last weekend with four points on one goal and three assists. She dished out the primary assist on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Holy Cross on Friday before enjoying a three-point game (1g, 2a) in a road win over the Crusaders on Saturday.

Holy Cross freshman standout Millie Sirum (Oslo, Norway) Netted two goals in a pair of games against No. 8/8 Boston College.

Alina Mueller - Northeastern

She is currently riding a threegame point streak with two goals and four assist in that span.


PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Tia Chan - UConn

Tia Chan (Hamilton, Ont.) did not allow a goal for the second time in her career on Friday, kicking out 24 shots from New Hampshire for 24 saves in a 1-0 road victory over the Wildcats. Both of her perfect games have come on the road, after she pitched a 25-save blank sheet on Dec. 19 at Merrimack.


HOCKEY EAST WOMEN'S DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Alexie Guay - Boston College

Alexie Guay (Magog, Que.) tied for the national lead with three goals on the weekend, scoring once in Friday’s win and twice in Saturday’s victory. She was the only Hockey East defender to tally multiple goals on the weekend and finished a league-best plusfour in two games. The defender fired nine shots on goal and one blocked shot.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Kelly Browne, BC (Jr., F; Burlington, Mass.) led Hockey East last weekend with four points on one goal and three assists and 31 face-off wins for a .738 winning percentage at the dot. She dished out the primary assist on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Holy Cross on Friday before enjoying a three-point game (1g, 2a) in a road win over the Crusaders on Saturday. She had nine shots on goal and two blocked shots and finished with a plus-three rating. On Saturday, she became just the 33rd player in program history to eclipse 76 career points.

Amy Landry, UConn (So., F; Beaconsfield, Que.) Netted a pair of goals in a two-game set against New Hampshire to lead a weekend sweep of the Wildcats.

Millie Sirum, HC (Fr., F; Oslo, Norway) Netted two goals in a pair of games against No. 8/8 Boston College.

Sandra Abstreiter, PC (Sr., G; Freising, Germany) Picked up her third shutout of the season with 22 saves against Merrimack on Friday to improve to 9-2-1 on the year.
