HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
No. 14 Providence swept No. 12 Boston College for the first time since 2002 thanks in part to two game-winning goals from Logan Sawyer. Sawyer scored in overtime in Friday’s 4-3 road victory, one of three unassisted goals the Friars potted that night while Jack Parsons made 40 saves. He clinched the series sweep the next night and has scored in four of his last five games.
UMass Lowell’s Nate Misskey scored his second career goal on Friday night, an overtime winner for the River Hawks at No. 20 Boston University. UMass Lowell now has three straight wins on Friday nights over ranked opponents. Boston University netminder Mikhail Yegorov posted a 23-save shutout on Saturday at UMass Lowell after stopping 28 of 29 shots he faced on Tuesday in a 4-1 road win at Harvard.
UMass swept Merrimack to push its win streak to three straight. Senior defender Lucas Olvestad factored in on all three goals in Saturday’s 3-1 victory, scoring the unassisted game-winner, and blocked there shots. Michael Hrabal saved 54 of the 57 shots he faced on the weekend.
Northeastern swept New Hampshire with two defensive showcases, including 56 saves on 58 shots and a 26-save shutout from Lawton Zacher. Dylan Hyrckowian had four points and was a plus-five in the two-game set.
Vermont and No. 11 UConn split a weekend series. Joey Muldowney scored
twice for the Huskies in Friday’s 4-1 victory. The next day, Vermont’s Colin Kessler netted two of his own and his team blocked 28 shots to earn a 4-2
win, marking the fourth-straight time the Catamounts have beaten a ranked
team on a Saturday night. Vermont is now 4-1-0 to start 2026.
BOSTON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Logan Sawyer - Providence
Logan Sawyer (So., F; Orangeville, Ont.) netted both of Providence’s
game-winning goals in a two-game sweep over No. 12 Boston College. On Friday, Sawyer scored the game-winner in overtime before
following up with the clinching goal in Providence’s 4-3 win on Saturday. He also posted a plus-three rating on Saturday night. Sawyer has
now found the back of the net in four of his last five games.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nate Misskey - UMass Lowell
Nate Misskey (Fr., D; Melfort, Sask.) scored the game-winning goal
in overtime on Friday, pushing Lowell to a 4-3 win over No. 20 Boston
University in come-from-behind fashion. He added two blocks in the
win.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Lucas Olvestad - Massachusetts
Lucas Olvestad (Sr., D; Stockholm, Sweden) factored in all three
goals in UMass’ 3-1 win over Merrimack on Saturday to complete a
league sweep of the Warriors, including an unassisted game-winning
tally in the come from behind victory. He was plus-three on the weekend and blocked three shots, including two in the final 2:27 of Friday’s
road victory at Merrimack, with the Minutemen holding a 3-2 lead before adding an empty netter with 25 seconds to play.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Lawton Zacher - Northeastern
Lawton Zacher (Jr., G; Buffalo, N.Y.) backstopped Northeastern to a
weekend sweep of New Hampshire, stopping 56 of 58 shots across
the series. His weekend included a 30-save performance and a 26-save shutout and finished the series with a .966 save percentage and
1.00 goals-against average, both tops in Hockey East last week.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Luka Radivojevic, BC (Fr., D; Trencin, Slovakia) Scored his first collegiate goal on Saturday against No. 14 Providence and added two assists to finish the night with a career-high three points.
Jack Harvey, BU (Jr., F; Stacy, Minn.) Netted two goals on Friday against UMass Lowell and led the Terriers with 12 shots on goal during three games this week.
Jonathan Morello, BU (Fr., F; Toronto, Ont.) Led the Terriers with three points in three games, totaling two goals and one assist and also leading BU with a plus-five rating on the week. In addition, he won a team-best 27 faceoffs and paced the Terriers with a .587 win percentage at the dot. He broke a 1-1 tie at Harvard and had the primary helper on the first of two empty-netters to help propel BU to a 4-1 win over the Crimson. Morello also lit the lamp on Friday against UMass Lowell.
Cole Hutson, BU (So., D; Chicago, Ill.) Tied for the team lead with with three points (1g, 2a), was a plus-three and had two blocked shots in three games. He scored the game-winning goal in the final seconds of the second period on Saturday in a 3-0 triumph at UMass Lowell and also had the primary assist on that game’s second goal. Hutson also had the primary assist on Monday’s game-winner at Harvard.
Mikhail Yegorov, BU (So., G; St. Petersburg, Russia) Went 2-1-0 in three starts, including a 23-save shutout at UMass Lowell on Saturday. He posted a .945 save percentage and a 1.50 GAA thanks in part to a 28-save effort at Harvard to backstop the Terriers to a 4-1 victory over the Crimson.
Michael Hrabal, UMass (Jr., G; Prague, Czechia) Went 2-0-0 in a weekend sweep for the Minutemen, stopping 54 of 57 shots he faced for a 1.50 GAA and a .947 save percentage. He made 29 saves in Friday’s 4-2 win at Merrimack and totaled 25 saves in Saturday’s 3-1 victory. Since January 1, he holds a 1.00 GAA and a .965 save percentage.
Jak Vaarwerk, UML (Jr., F; Clarence, N.Y.) In Friday’s 4-3 overtime win at Boston University, he scored a goal and an assist for two points. He won 13 of 21 faceoffs taken. He then went 5-for-10 the next night from the dot.
TJ Schweighardt, UML (Sr., D; Manahawkin, N.J.) Tallied an assist and two blocked shots in Friday’s overtime win at No. 2 Boston University and had a team-leading four blocked shots in Saturday’s 3-0 setback.
Samuel Richard, UML (Sr., G; Sainte-Catherine, Que.) Made 31 saves in a 4-3 overtime win at No. 20 Boston University on Friday, including 16 in the first period.
Trevor Hoskin, MC (So., F; Belleville, Ont.) Found the back of the net in each game against UMass.
Justin Gill, MC (Fr., F; Joseph-du-Lac, Que.) Dished out an assist in each game against UMass.
Austin Oravetz, MC (Jr., D; Canonsburg, Pa.) Assisted on Merrimack’s lone goal in Saturday’s 3-1 setback to UMass.
Max Lundgren, MC (Jr., G; Angelholm, Sweden) Made 55 saves on 60 shots in two starts against UMass.
Dylan Hryckowian, NU (Jr., F; Ile Bizard, Que.) Led all Northeastern skaters in scoring, totaling four points (2g, 2a) in a weekend sweep of New Hampshire. He racked up a plus-five rating and added six shots on goal and two blocked shots. He now has 10 points during his current six-game scoring streak (4g, 6a).
Jacob Mathieu, NU (Fr., F; St-Odilon, Que.) Posted three points (1g, 2a) in a weekend sweep of New Hampshire. He added a plus-four rating while generating seven shots on goal and five blocked shots. He went 13-for-31 on faceoffs (42%).
Dylan Compton, NU (Fr., D; Victoria, B.C.) Paced Northeastern defensemen in scoring with two assists in a weekend sweep of New Hampshire and finished with a plus-six rating.
Kale McCallum, PC (Gr., D; Fredericton, N.B.) Tallied a goal on Friday night in an overtime win at Boston College and followed up with an assist as the Friars completed the sweep on Saturday. He finished the weekend with three shots on goal and a plus-four rating.
Colin Kessler, UVM (So., F; Anchorage, Alaska) Scored two goals, including the game-winning strike, in a 4-2 win at No. 11 UConn on Saturday afternoon. He now has seven points in his last five games, a 4-1-0 stretch for the Catamounts.
