CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Junior Lily Shannon scored the overtime game-winner to deliver the No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team a 5-4 overtime victory at Boston College on Friday afternoon.
Shannon and senior Skylar Irving each finished with three points, while freshman Éloïse Caron posted two goals.
- Northeastern allowed two quick goals from the Eagles to fall behind, 2-0, just under two minutes into the game. Caron's first tally cut the deficit to 2-1. She potted a power-play goal at the 5:47 mark of the first period with assists from junior Jules Constantinople and Irving.
- At the start of the second period, the Huskies scored a second power-play goal from Shannon to tie the game at 2-2. Shannon got her first of the night with assists from freshmen Morgan Jackson and Tuva Kandell. BC then retook a 3-2 lead just over two minutes later.
- Irving re-tied the game for Northeastern just 33 seconds after BC retook their lead to make the score 3-3. Irving's goal was assisted by Shannon and graduate student Lily Yovetich.
- Before the end of the second, Caron gave the Huskies their first lead of the game with her second goal. Caron's 10th goal of the season was assisted by sophomores Ella Blackmore and Allie Lalonde.
- The Eagles scored the lone goal of the third period to tie the game back up at 4-4. The two sides skated into overtime, and Shannon ended it with her 13th goal of the season, 1:12 into OT. Shannon's overtime game-winner was assisted by Irving and senior Tory Mariano.
- Freshman goaltender Lisa Jönsson posted 24 saves in her 15th victory.
Northeastern will next host Boston College for Senior Day on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
