North Andover, MA- The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team tied the game at one early in the third period, and eventually took the extra point in the shootout as they won 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Lawler Arena Merrimack (7-20-4, 4-16-4): 1 (2) Maine (9-20-2, 8-14-2): 1 (0)

In the first period, Calli Hogarth made eight saves in a scoreless frame.

Maine broke the ice in the game late in the second scoring in the final four minutes.

Merrimack was able to even up the score less than two minutes into the third as Sage Babey turned in the rebound on the initial shot from Alex Ferguson, and the score would stay that way entering overtime.

Merrimack rang the post on their best chance to take the win in the extra period, and Calli Hogarth made the save of the game, stopping Maine two on one, sliding left to right to make a pad save to deny the Black Bears the win.

In the shootout, Maria Lindberg and Hayley Chang scored, while Calli Hogarth stoned both Maine shooters to claim the extra point.


Notes and Numbers:

- Sage Babey scored her eighth goal of the season, her second in two games.

- Sophie McKinley and Alex Ferguson had an assist each.

- Calli Hogarth made 32 saves.

- Merrimack was not awarded a powerplay for the first time since their game with Syracuse on September 30th 2022.
