BOSTON - In the 72nd Annual Dunkin' Men's Beanpot third place game, the Northeastern Huskies (9-14-3) fell to the Harvard Crimson (8-13-2) by a final score of 4-3 at TD Garden on Monday afternoon.
- Northeastern tallied the opening goal 5:48 into the first on a breakaway play that started with Jackson Dorrington skating up ice and firing a shot on net. His rebound fell to Cam Lund who followed up with a shot of his own, which was also saved. The third attempt from Jack Williams found the back of the net over the shoulder of the Harvard goalie for the 1-0 lead.
- Harvard equalized on the power play with 3:33 left in the first, and opened the second with another extra-attacker goal to lead 2-1 with 19:04 remaining in the second.
- The Crimson tallied another power play goal 6:03 into the period to take a two-goal lead.
- Northeastern answered back on a goal from Christophe Tellier, who followed a Jake Boltmann shot that was tipped by Joe Connor and landed in the slot. Tellier's one-timer cut the lead down to one, at 3-2.
- After another Harvard power play goal to go up 4-2, Jack Williams notched his second of the game on a two-on-one with Joe Connor - his one-timer from the far-side face off circle gave the Huskies life heading into the second intermission, down 4-3.
- Despite the momentum from the ending of the second period, Northeastern was unable to capitalize for the equalizing goal.
- It's the first fourth-place finish for the Huskies in the tournament since the 2012 tournament, where NU fell 3-2 to Harvard.
The Huskies host UMass Lowell this coming Friday, February 14th at 7 p.m. to kick off a home-and-home series with the River Hawks. Both games of the weekend series can be seen on ESPN+.
