Box Score

BOSTON - Thanks to an overtime winner from sophomore Alex Law, No. 14 Boston University women's ice hockey (19-8-1, 16-4-1 HE) defeated No. 13/12 Northeastern (18-10-1, 13-8-1 HE) 3-2 at Matthews Arena on Tuesday evening.

The Terriers built to a 2-0 lead through the first two frames before Northeastern could answer. The Huskies scored two goals within the final six minutes of the third period to tie things up, 2-2, to force the game into overtime.

Senior Callie Shanahan made multiple key saves halfway through the overtime period to keep the Terriers alive. After gaining control of the puck, Law took the puck through the neutral zone and rushed the goal to score the overtime winner, lifting BU to the 3-2 win.

Freshman Kaileigh Quigg and junior Clara Yuhn also scored in the win. Junior Sydney Healey led in points with three assists while graduate students Lindsay Bochna and Julia Shaunessy and senior Maggie Hanzel all recorded one assist.

Shanahan made 33 saves in net for her 14th win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- S. Healey won the puck in the neutral zone and passed to Bochna, whose initial shot was saved.

- BU was called for hooking 30 seconds later and successfully killed the penalty.

- Northeastern went to the box for boarding with 1:54 to go in the first.

- The Terriers did not find the back of the net on the power play which carried over into the second frame.

- BU successfully killed off a roughing call made at 4:54 to keep Northeastern from scoring.

- The Terriers went on the power play with Northeastern in the box for indirect contact to the head at 11:15, but nothing came of the extra skater advantage.

- Northeastern entered the box again for slashing with 5:06 to go in the second, followed by adding another Husky to the box for tripping with 4:24 remaining.

- While the Terriers did not score during the 5-on-3 opportunity, they made sure to find the back of the net before the power play was over.

- Shaunessy and S. Healey set up Yuhn in the slot, whose shot passed Jönsson in the air near the right post to put the Terriers up 2-0 before the close of the second.

- The Terriers were called for body checking 3:45 into the third and were once again successful on the penalty kill.

- Northeastern found the back of the net with 5:50 to play to cut into BU's lead, 2-1.

- The Huskies then tied the game with 4:17 to go in the third to force it into overtime.

- BU continued to defend well through the extra minutes to keep the Huskies at bay.
