PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ont.) scored the lone goal in regulation and netted a shootout goal as the Providence College women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie against Vermont, claiming the extra point in the shootout on Friday (Nov. 15) at Schneider Arena. Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) scored the winner in the shootout, while Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) stopped 22-of-23 shots.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

- Providence got on the board at 10:57 of the first period as Kirchmair netted her sixth goal of the season, backhanding a loose puck at the top of the crease. Ashley Clark (North Weymouth, Mass.) and Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) earned assists on the play.

- Vermont tied the game up just 50 seconds later on a breakaway goal by Alaina Tanski.

- Walinski kept the game tied with a sprawling pad save on a 2-on-1 chance for the Catamounts late in the opening period.

- The teams skated through the second and third periods scoreless. The Friars' penalty kill came up with a big effort in the third period, killing off a pair of Vermont power plays in the final 10 minutes of regulation.

- Neither team could find the back of the net in overtime resulting in a 1-1 tie.

- In the shootout, Kirchmair and Knapp converted on their attempts while Walinski stopped 2-on-3 Catamount attempts to secure the extra point for Providence.

- The Friars are now 1-0-1 in overtime this season.
