BOSTON- Freshman goaltender Lisa Jönsson pitched a 37-save shutout to guide the Northeastern women's hockey team to a 1-0 victory and back-to-back shutouts over No. 10 Connecticut on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena. Senior Skylar Irving scored the game-winning goal to help the Huskies earn the weekend sweep over UConn.
- Northeastern struck first with a goal from Irving at the 6:03 mark of the first period. Irving capitalized on a Connecticut turnover and shot top shelf to give NU a 1-0 lead headed into the second frame.
- Neither side would find the back of the net again as NU finished with 22 blocks and Jönsson posted 37 saves to preserve the 1-0 victory for Northeastern.
- It marks the first time since 2010 that Northeastern shutout a ranked opponent in back-to-back games. NU's two ranked shutouts also came against UConn in 2010.
The Huskies are back in action on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. against Maine in Matthews Arena.
