ORONO, Maine. - The Boston College women's hockey team completed the sweep over Maine with a 5-1 victory on Saturday evening.
The offense got started early, with Alanna Devlin scoring her first career goal a minute into the game. BC doubled the lead in the third minute of the game when Lauren Glaser was able to break past the Black Bears' defense and bury the puck in the back of the net. The Eagles went into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
In the second period, Maine cut the Eagles' lead to one with a power play goal in the 12th minute. Boston College had two unanswered goals from Sammy Taber and Abby Newhook to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead heading into the final period.
Abby Newhook's goal was the 50th of her career. She is now the 17th player in program history to reach this milestone.
During the final frame, Abby Newhook added a power-play goal for BC's fifth and final goal of the weekend to complete the sweep over Maine.
