WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team hosted Boston College (BC) to open the conference schedule on Thursday night for the Crusaders Mental Health Awareness and Homecoming game. Holy Cross claimed a 4-1 victory over the Eagles for the first time in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Eagles got on the board at 1:51 in the first period with a goal by Tricia Piku. Holy Cross responded with the solo equalizer at 6:03 by junior forward Lane Lewis.

- In the second period, the Crusaders took the lead with a one-timer netted by freshman defender Hannah Deck on the power-play at 9:06. She was assisted by junior assistant captain Alexia Moreau.

- In the third period, Holy Cross extended the lead with a power-play goal by sophomore assistant captain Emily Crovo assisted by seniors Madison Michals and captain Emma Min. The Crusaders solidified their win with another goal two minutes later netted by freshman defender Kaitlin Sullivan assisted by Michals and senior defender Emilie Fortunato.

- Boston College led Holy Cross 29-17 in shots on goal and 29-20 in face-offs to conclude the game. Deck was credited with the game-winning goal.


BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

- Deck and Sullivan both netted their first collegiate goals.

- Holy Cross earned its first program win over Boston College.
