SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The No. 1 seeded Boston College men's hockey team fell to Denver, 2-0, in the National Championship on Saturday evening at the Xcel Energy Center.

Freshman forward Will Smith (Lexington, Mass.) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Eagles registered 35 shots on goal, including outshooting Denver in the final period, 23-4. Shortly after the Eagles nearly opened the scoring, the Pioneers tallied the first goal of the night midway through the second period. Tristan Broz found an opening with the puck near the front of the goal and was able to tuck a shot inside the near post past BC goaltender Jacob Fowler (Melbourne, Fla.).

Denver added to its lead later in the frame when Rieger Lorenz scored from the left faceoff circle.

The Eagles nearly got on the scoresheet midway through the third period when Lukas Gustafsson (Atlanta, Ga.) had a clean look at goal with a shot that beat Davis, but the puck hit the outside of the post and went wide along the boards.

Boston College pulled Fowler in the final few minutes in search of a goal to cut into the deficit, but their attempts at goal were rebuffed by Davis.
