NO. ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack Warriors Men's hockey team scored seven times in the game's final 30 minutes of play, to eventually power past the Army Black Knights in their first game of the Turkey Leg Classic on Friday night.


THE BASICS:

Merrimack (5-6-1, 2-4-1): 7, Army West Point (2-10-0, 2-6-0): 3

Army did not wait around as they scored the opening goal just over 90 seconds into the game. They would score their second of the period at 12:38 to take a two goal lead after the first 20 minutes, despite Merrimack holding a 18-5 shot advantage.

The Warriors continued to push in period two and would get their break at 11:18, as Ben Brar recorded his second of the season. Max Wattvil would score under minute later to even the game up at two. Merrimack took a 3-2 lead two minutes later as Ty Daneault scored his first Warriors goal. Mac Welsher added an insurance tally at 17:19 of the second and Mark Hiller made it 5-2 on a short handed goal just before the end of the second.

Army again had a quick start to a period, scoring on a partial breakaway under a minute into the third.

Ty Daneault got his second goal of the game at 5:26 in the third to give the Warriors a 6-3 lead. Mark Gallant put the finishing touches on the win with his second of the season and the team's seventh of the night.
