BOSTON, Mass. - Junior forward and captain Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) recorded a goal and an assist to lead the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team to Friday night's 4-2 victory against Boston University at Walter Brown Arena.

Juodikis set up the goal that gave UNH a 2-0 lead and then scored what proved to be the game-winning goal when she extended the advantage to 3-0. Senior forward Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario), junior defender Marina Alvarez (Center Moriches, N.Y.) and junior forward Brooke Hammer (Commerce Township, Mich.) scored UNH's other goals.

Freshman goalie Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 13 of her 31 saved in the third period.

BU starting goaltender Alexa Matses was pulled with the home team trailing 3-0 at 15:01 of the first period; she was credited with seven saves and charged with the loss. Mari Pietersen was credited with 14 saves and charged with one goal against in 40:09.

Catherine Foulem and Lilli Welcke scored the Terriers' goals.

UNH improved to 5-3-0 on the road, 6-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in Hockey East. BU is now 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the league.

FIRST PERIOD

- UNH recorded a 14-8 shot advantage and skated to a 4-1 lead through 20 minutes.

- The Wildcats scored the first two goals 84 seconds apart and all four goals in a span of 6 minutes, 53 seconds.

- Truter scored her third goal of the season by advancing through the neutral zone into the left circle and chipping the puck over Matses, who came out to challenge with an attempted poke check, at 8:23. Rae Breton (Brighton, Ontario), who made the outlet pass from the defensive zone, was credited with the assist.

- Alvarez also netter her third goal of the season to extend the advantage to 2-0 at 9:47. Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) won possession on the left half-boards and sent the puck into the corner, where Juodikis corralled the puck and saucered a backhander to the slot. Alvarez skated onto the puck and backhanded a shot into the middle of the net.

- Juodikis made it 3-0 at 13:51. On a faceoff in the UNH defensive zone, Jada Christian (Caledon East, Ontario) chipped the puck out to the blue line. Juodikis immediately split a pair of defenders to break free down the right wing and her slap shot from the top of the circle beat Matses.

- UNH was whistled for the first penalty of the game at 15:01, but the Hammer scored the Wildcats' first shorthanded goal of the season 15 seconds later to give New Hampshire a 4-0 lead. On the forecheck, Hammer flipped the puck off the back of the net, collected the puck at the right side of the net and from the top of the crease slipped a shot between Pietersen's leg pads.

- BU trimmed the deficit to 4-1 on Welcke's goal at 18:13.


SECOND PERIOD

- The Terriers scored the only goal of the second stanza with a 12-7 shot advantage.

- UNH was assessed a major penalty at 9:13, but Blair stopped all five shots to preserved the Wildcats' three-goal advantage.

- Foulem scored with 51.1 seconds on the clock to lift BU within 4-2.

- The 'Cats were sent to the penalty box for cross checking at 19:39 and Blair denied Welcke with four seconds on the clock.


THIRD PERIOD

- With 1:39 of carryover on the BU power play to start the third period, Blair made two more saves to backbone another successful UNH penalty kill.

- The Terriers pulled Pietersen in favor of an extra skater with 4:50 remaining. Blair stopped Alex's Law shot and then stoned Brooke Disher off the rebound at 17:08.

- Blair made her 31st save of the night at 18:18.

- UNH called its timeout at 19:19 and did not allow another shot on goal the rest of the game. Christian blocked the only shot attempt in those final 41 seconds.


GAME NOTEBOOK

- BU recorded a 33-25 shot advantage and 40-15 edge in the faceoff circle.

- UNH was credited with 18 blocked shots while BU had six blocks.

- Both teams were 0-for-3 on the power play.
