ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team earn the 3-0 shutout victory over the University of New Brunswick in their season-opening exhibition game.

With a goal in each period, the Black Bears dominated the game outshooting UNB 52-22.

First Goal 1-0 Maine: Elise Morphy notched the first goal of the game on a powerplay one-timer, with Mira Seregely and Abby Latorella earning assists.

Second Goal 2-0 Maine: Mira Seregely scored an even strength goal on a breakaway with Sam Morrison and Ashley Kokavec tallying assists.

Third Goal 3-0 Maine: Sam Morrison tipped in a shot from Alyssa Wruble in the third period.

"I think it was a good first swing for our group. We did some good things, played with energy and played together. We're learning a lot right now, it was a good start," stated head coach Molly Engstrom on the team's victory.

Each goalie saw a period each starting with Jorden Mattison making three saves on three shots. Anna LaRose made nine saves on nine shots, and Julia Bachetti made 10 saves on 10 shots.

Maine travels to #8 Quinnipiac next weekend for a pair of non-conference games. Game one is on Friday, September 29 at 6:00pm, with Saturday's puck-drop planned for 3:00pm.
