STORRS, Conn. - Hudson Schandor's heroic overtime winner helps the Huskies take down Alaska Anchorage by a final of 4-3 in overtime. With the win, UConn improves to 18-10-3 on the season.

In the first ever student-only game for the men's hockey program, the UConn men's Hockey team gave students a reason to celebrate as they scored four goals to down the sea wolves. Assistant Captain Hudson Schandor opened the scoring for the Huskies as his linemates Justin Pearson and Matthew Wood found him cross ice for the one-time goal. Sophomore Logan Terness made 10 saves in the first period to hold Alaska Anchorage scoreless heading into the second period.

UConn continued to pressure the sea wolves in front of the net, as the team continued to look for redirections and loose pucks. Eventually UConn broke through as Tristan Fraser redirected a shot from Harrison Rees to give UConn the 2-0 lead. Shortly after taking the 2-0 lead, Alaska Anchorage found the back of the net courtesy of a Matt Allen tip in, his first of two goals tonight.

With the Huskies lead cut to one, UConn did not let up as Nick Capone positioned himself in the center of the offensive zone and blasted home a one timer on the power play to give UConn the two-goal lead once again. Alaska Anchorage would not back down as they would score two unanswered goals to tie the game at three and force overtime. The two goals in the third period raised the Sea Wolves season total 17 goals scored in the third period.

With the game tied at three, the game headed into a sudden death 3 vs. 3 overtime period. In overtime it was all UConn as Logan Terness didn't make a single save. With just over two minutes left in the overtime period, Ryan Tverberg used his speed to skate past one defender and found Hudson Schandor cross ice. With Schandor taking the pass and falling down he shot the puck which found it's way over the goaltenders shoulder for the win.

With the win, UConn improves to 18-10-3 and Logan Terness improves to 10-5-2 on the season.
