North Andover, Mass-- The Merrimack men's hockey team picked up three huge Hockey East points as they upset the #5 ranked Boston University Terriers in front of a sold out crowd at Lawler Rink on friday night.

Merrimack started off on the right foot as Matt Copponi scored five and a half minutes into the game on a great Alex Jefferies pass down low.
Merrimack doubled the lead after Jordan Seyfert scored on a Mick Messner rebound.
In the third period, the Messner-Seyfert combination would strike again as Mick Messner would score on the give and go to take a three goal advantage.
Boston University would get on the board with a powerplay goal midway through the third period, but Mick Messner would get his third point of the evening with a long range empty netter to finish off the upset.

- Merrimack blocked 17 shots, including five by Mike Brown.
