Box Score - Highlights

BOSTON - In the 70th Annual Men's Beanpot final, the No. 16 Northeastern University Huskies (14-10-5) tied the No. 9/10 Harvard Crimson (17-6-2), with a 2-2 final score, but the Huskies took a 1-0 shootout victory to claim their eighth Beanpot title in program history, and fourth in the last five tournaments.

- The first period played out to a scoreless draw with the Crimson outshooting the Huskies 12-7 in the frame.

- Northeastern broke open the scoring 1:25 into the second frame when a shot by Sam Colangelo was initially saved by Harvard goaltender Mitchell Gibson. The resulting rebound landed in the crease and the first stick to it was Gunnarwolfe Fontaine's, poking the puck past the right pad of Gibson to give Northeastern a 1-0 lead.

- Harvard responded just minutes later after a Northeastern cross-checking minor gave the Crimson a man advantage. Harvard leveled the score on the power play 2:58 into the period off the stick of Matthew Coronato.

- Coronato gave the Crimson the lead midway through the frame, 8:52 into the period, on a shot from the side of the net that flipped off the far crossbar and in.

- Harvard would hold its 2-1 lead going into the second intermission, with the Huskies narrowing the shot margin to 15-18, outshooting the Crimson in the 2nd period 8-6.

- The Huskies roared back to life in the third and tied the game up 4:57 into the period. Jayden Struble collected a pass from Matt DeMelis at the blue line. Struble skated in on the left side and found Fontaine on the other side of the crease, who tapped it in off the backhand for his second of the night.

- Northeastern earned its first power play of the night 6:23 into the third period, but the Harvard penalty kill was able to keep Northeastern from taking the lead despite multiple good scoring chances from the Huskies.

- Harvard outshot NU 14-9 in the final frame with both teams garnering several dangerous scoring changes, but with neither team able to break the 2-2 tie, the game headed to overtime.

- The back and forth action continued into 3-on-3 overtime but nothing was decided in the five minutes. Devon Levi made his 32nd and final save of the night as time expired in overtime to keep the Huskies alive.

- Aidan McDonough netted his shootout attempt in the second round driving right to the net and sniping one top corner. Devon Levi stood tall on the other end, stopping his second straight shootout attempt to claim the programs program's eighth Beanpot Championship.

- The Huskies claimed their fourth Beanpot in five tries, winning in 2018, 2019, 2020, and now 2023.

- Devon Levi was awarded the Eberly Award for the tournament's best save percentage at .956, and was also named the Beanpot MVP. He's the first netminder to win the Beanpot MVP since Northeastern's Cayden Primeau won the award in the 2019 Beanpot.
