CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team defeated the Boston College Eagles, 3-1, on Friday night in the Conte Forum.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Lynden Breen continued his torrid streak with a goal at the 5:18 mark of the first period. David Breazeale kept the puck in the Maine zone. Thomas Freel played the puck from behind the net to Donavan Villeneuve-Houle who left a beautiful tap in for Breen. The Bears grabbed a very early 1-0 lead.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): While on the first penalty kill of the night, Didrik Henbrant scored a shorthanded goal for the Black Bears. Victor Ostman made a poke check that deflected the puck to Nolan Renwick. The sophomore saw Henbrant streaking behind the Eagles' defense as the pass was made. The Sweden native did the rest as Maine held a two goal advantage.

The second period was skated to a scoreless tie. Victor Ostman saved all 10 shots he faced in the middle frame.

Third Goal (2-1 Maine): Trevor Kuntar pulled the Eagles to within one goal at the 16:07 mark of the third period. With no traffic in front of the Maine net, the forward was able to find space over Ostman's shoulder and into the net. The Black Bears still held a one goal lead.

Fourth Goal (3-1 Maine): Donavan Villeneuve-Houle slammed the door shut on any comeback with an empty net goal. The 3-1 lead stood as the Black Bears defeated Boston College, 3-1.

Notes: Victor Ostman saved 31 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Mitch Benson stopped 18 shots between the pipes for Boston College.

Maine went 0 for 3 on the power play, as the Eagles were 0-4 on its player advantages.

Next: The Black Bears return to the ice next Sunday, February 12 for a single game at UMass Lowell. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
