HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Vermont swept No. 16 Northeastern at Gutterson Fieldhouse, the first sweep of a ranked Hockey East opponent since 2020. Jens Richards scored three goals, including two third-period strikes and the game-winning tally in Saturday’s 5-3 victory.

Providence earned a crucial sweep of Maine, taking 6-1 and 3-0 wins over the Black Bears. Rookie netminder Jack Parsons started each game and stopped 46 of the 47 shots he faced, earning his first career shutout with 20 stops on Saturday.

Boston University and Massachusetts traded road shutout wins in a two-game set. The Terriers struck first, taking a 1-0 victory Friday night at Mullins Center off the stick of Jack Harvey and an 18-save shutout from Mikhail Yegorov. The Minutemen rebounded Saturday, earning a 2-0 win at Agganis Arena off a 26-save shutout from Michael Hrabal, who stopped 54 of the 55 shots he faced on the weekend.

UConn and UMass Lowell split a home-and-home series as Lowell’s Jay Ahearn scored twice, including a power-play goal and an empty-netter, in Friday’s 5-3 road victory. The next day, the Huskies’ Kam Hendrickson earned his first career win, allowing just one goal while saving 28 total shots.

Boston College skated to an 8-2 win over Stonehill in exhibition play. Sophomore forwards Teddy Stiga and James Hagens both registered a goal and two assists, while Dean Letourneau had two tallies of his own.

Jens Richards - Vermont

Jens Richards (Sr., F; Detroit Lakes, Minn.) scored three times in a weekend sweep of No. 16 Northeastern. He netted the go-ahead goal in Friday’s eventual 3-2 win before potting two third-period strikes on Saturday, including the game-winning tally. It was the third multi-goal game of his career.

Jack Parsons - Providence

Jack Parsons (Fr., G; Cortland, N.Y.) made back-to-back starts for the Friars and backboned Providence to a sweep of No. 12 Maine as he made 46 saves on 47 shots in the series. He kicked out 26 of 27 shots he saw in Friday’s 6-1 win and followed up with a 20-save perfect game for his first career shutout. He posted a 2-0-0 record with a .979 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average.

Sebastian Tornqvist - Vermont

Sebastian Tornqvist (Jr., D; Gothenburg, Sweden) had a goal and three assists, including a game-winning helper and two primary dishes, and added two blocked shots to help lead the Catamounts to a weekend sweep of No. 16 Northeastern. It was the Catamounts first sweep of a ranked Hockey East opponent since 2020.

Michael Hrabal - Massachusetts

Michael Hrabal (Jr., G; Prague, Czechia) went 1-1-0 with a 0.51 GAA and a .982 save percentage over two games against No. 19 Boston University, stopping 55 of the 56 shots he faced on the weekend. Hrabal recorded a 26-save shutout on the road at BU on Saturday after stopping 29 of 30 in a 1-0 loss to the Terriers at home on Friday.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Mikhail Yegorov, BU (So., G; St. Petersburg, Russia) Saved 34 of 35 shots he faced in a weekend split with UMass. On Friday night, he made 18 stops in a 1-0 win and earned his second career shutout. On Saturday, he stopped 16-of-17 shots faced in a 2-0 setback. The one goal allowed is his fewest over any two-game stretch in his collegiate career.

Aiden Celebrini, BU (Jr., D; Vancouver, B.C.) Set up the game-winning goal in BU’s 1-0 win over UMass on Friday night and blocked three shots on the weekend. He helped the Terriers earn a shutout victory on Friday night.

Joey Muldowney, UConn (Jr., F; Lake View, N.Y.) Scored three goals in a split weekend against UMass Lowell, potting two on Saturday night, including the game-winning goal, to lead the Huskies to a 5-1 victory.

Kai Janviriya, UConn (So., D; Bloomfield, Mich.) Had two primary assists in a split weekend with UMass Lowell.

Kam Hendrickson, UConn (Fr., G; Carver, Minn.) Earned his first career win Saturday against UMass Lowell, allowing just one goal while saving 28 total shots.

Jay Ahearn, UML (Gr., F; Staten Island, N.Y.) Scored twice, including a power-play goal and an empty-netter, in Friday’s 5-3 road win over No. 10 UConn.

Luke Shipley, UML (Fr., D; Powell River, B.C.) Netted his first career goal in Friday’s 5-3 victory against No. 10 UConn. He then scored again on Saturday in a 5-1 setback and added two blocked shots.

Austin Elliott, UML (Fr., G; Strathmore, Alta.) Made 24 saves in a 5-3 victory over No. 10 UConn and made 25 more on Saturday night in a 5-1 setback that included two empty-net goals and a power-play goal with 27 seconds remaining in the game.

Amine Hajibi, NU (Fr., F; Montreal, Que.) Recorded a pair of goals in a series at Vermont, including a game-tying tally in game two, an eventual 5-2 setback. He put four shots on goal while finishing with a plus-three rating.

Jonathan Fauchon, PC (Fr., F; Sainte-Claire, Que.) Scored a goal and added an assist in a 6-1 win over No. 12 Maine on Friday and followed with another helper in a 3-0 win on Saturday.

Julius Sumpf, PC (Fr., F; Munich, Germany) Dished out three assists in Friday’s 6-1 victory over No. 12 Maine and fired seven shots on net in a weekend sweep of the Black Bears.

Aiden Wright, UVM (Fr., G; Wake Forest, N.C.) Stopped 45 of the 50 shots he faced from No. 16 Northeastern and carried a 2.50 goals against average this weekend, backstopping the Catamounts to their first sweep of a ranked Hockey East opponent since 2020.
