HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Providence extended its winning streak to six straight league games over ranked opponents and moved to 9-1-0 since Nov. 29 with a sweep of Boston University. Rookie goaltender Jack Parsons stopped all 33 shots he faced on Saturday in a 4-0 victory and has been in net for each win for the Friars.

Massachusetts has won five straight and is 7-1-0 since Dec. 7. Michael Hrabal was perfect in a two-game sweep at Vermont, denying all 64 shots he saw and pitching two shutouts for the Minutemen. He made 42 on Friday in a 22 in Saturday’s 1-0 victory.

UConn won the CT Ice tournament for the second straight year, downing a Yale team that had won three of its last four and No. 6 Quinnipiac in the championship game. Ryan Tattle, UConn had one goal and three assists in the series while winning 50% of his faceoffs.

Merrimack swept Northeastern thanks in part to strong play of Max Lundgren, who made 53 saves on 55 shots he faced from the Huskies. The junior netminder is now 7-2-0 in his last nine starts since Dec. 12 and has the Warriors within five points of fourth place in the Hockey East standings.

Boston College rebounded from a weekend sweep with a pair of wins of their own New Hampshire. In Saturday’s 3-0 win, Louka Cloutier stopped all 29 shots he faced while Will Vote scored all three Eagles goals to secure six points in Hockey East play.

Michael Hrabal (Jr., G; Prague, Czechia) stopped all 64 shots he faced at Vermont, posting two shutouts in a weekend sweep of the Catamounts. He made 42 saves in Friday’s 4-0 win and followed up with 22 saves in a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

Louka Cloutier (Fr., G; Sherbrooke, Que.) backstopped the Eagles to two wins over UNH. The freshman made 52 saves across the two victories, including a 29-save shutout on Saturday on the road.

Max Lundgren (Jr., G; Angelholm, Sweden) made 53 saves on 55 shots in two wins over Northeastern, allowing just one goal in each start. Lundgren is now 7-2-0 in his last nine starts since Dec. 12.

Jack Parsons - Providence

Jack Parsons (Fr., G; Cortland, N.Y.) wrapped a weekend sweep over No. 18 BU with a 2-0-0 record, 1.50 goals against average and .941 save percentage. On Saturday, he recorded his second shutout of the season with a 33-save effort in a 4-0 win on the road against the Terriers. Over his last six appearances, Parsons is 6-0-0 with a 1.66 GAA and .941 save percentage with two shutouts.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Will Vote, BC (Jr., F; Arlington, Mass.) Scored a natural hat trick on Saturday to lead BC to 3-0 victory over New Hampshire. Vote also tallied two assists in Friday’s win over UNH to finish with a five-point weekend.

Lukas Gustafsson, BC (Sr., D; Atlanta, Ga.) Picked up two primary assists on Saturday in BC’s 3-0 over UNH to complete the weekend sweep.

Ryan Tattle, UConn (Sr., F; Port Moody, B.C.) Helped UConn to its second consecutive CT Ice crown with one goal and three assists. The Huskies toppled Yale before the title-clinching win over No. 6 Quinnipiac. He also won 50% of his faceoffs.

Viking Gustafsson Nyberg, UConn (Jr., D; Stockholm, Sweden) Dished out three assists to help UConn claim the CT Ice title.

Tyler Muszelik, UConn (Sr., G; Long Valley, N.J.) Finished the weekend 2-0-0, including a win over No. 6 Quinnipiac. He finished with 54 saves, a .931 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average.

Brock James, Maine (Fr., F; Falmouth, Maine) Had one goal and three points in Maine’s sweep at UMass Lowell, including the game-winning goal in Friday’s 2-0 win. On Saturday night he added two assists, including on the game-tying goal to force overtime.

Brandon Holt, Maine (Sr., D; Grand Forks, N.D.) Helped Maine to a 2-0-0 weekend at Maine by recording two assists, three shots on goal and three blocked shots. He had an assist on the overtime winner on Saturday night.

Albin Boija, Maine (Jr., G; Stockholm, Sweden) Went 2-0-0 on the weekend, posting his 10th career shutout and fourth of the season on Friday.

Lucas Olvestad, UMass (Sr., D; Stockholm, Sweden) Led UMass in scoring in a weekend road sweep at Vermont with three points on two goals and an assist, extending his goal scoring streak to three straight games. He finished with a plus-three rating and three blocks as he helped lead a defensive unit that posted two shutouts against the Catamounts. The senior registered a goal and an assist in Friday’s 4-0 win and scored the lone goal in Saturday’s 1-0 victory.

Dillan Bentley, UML (Sr., F; Peoria, Ill.) Scored a goal and added two assists for three points in the team’s 6-5 overtime loss against Maine. He also went 21-for-41 from the dot for a .512 faceoff percentage.

Diego Buttazzoni, UML (Fr., F; Langley, B.C.) Had two assists to help spark a run of five unanswered goals for UMass Lowell in an eventual 6-5 overtime setback. He also blocked three shots on the weekend.

Dominic Payne, UML (So., D; North Vancouver, B.C.) Scored the game-tying goal in the second period to cap a five-goal run for UML and blocked one shot.

Austin Elliott, UML (Fr., G; Strathmore, Alta.) Made 27 saves Friday night on 29 shots faced from Maine in a 2-0 loss.

Parker Lalonde, MC (Fr., F; Aberdeen, Sask.) Had four points in a weekend sweep of Northeastern, scoring a goal and adding an assist in each Warriors’ win.

Austin Oravetz, MC (Jr., D; Canonsburg, Pa.) Assisted on the opening goal and had the primary assist on the game winning goal on Friday’s 4-1 win over Northeastern.

Julius Sumpf, PC (Fr., F; Munich, Germany) Finished a weekend sweep of BU with three points on a goal and two assists. Sumpf earned an assist on Friday night in a 4-3 win and followed up with a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 4-0 win on the road. He ranks fourth on the Friars in scoring this season with 16 points on three goals and 13 assists. During Providence’s six-game winning streak, Sumpf leads PC with eight points on one goal and seven assists.
