HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
New Hampshire traveled to Maine and swept the Black Bears in Alfond Arena for the first time since Feb. 8-9, 2008. Cam McDonald scored the lone goal in Friday’s 1-0 win while Kyle Chauvette made 21 saves in the shutout win. He followed up with 28 saves in a 3-2 victory the next night. The Wildcats are now riding a four-game win streak entering a date with 10-0-0 Dartmouth on Dec. 14.
UConn swept Merrimack to retain its hold on the top spot in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings. Tyler Muszelik pitched a 19-save shutout in Friday’s 3-0 road win, before the Huskies’ used 10 different point-scorers in Saturday’s 5-2 victory. It marked the first weekend with two regulation wins for UConn.
Boston College swept UMass Lowell by matching 3-1 scores to stay within one point of first place in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings. Dean Letourneau scored in each game, including two in Friday’s win for his first career multi-goal game, and the sophomore now has four goals and two assists in his last three outings. Louka Cloutier made 50 saves on 52 shots in the two starts.
Thomas Sinclair’s first goal of the season came with just 21 seconds remaining in regulation and gave Vermont a 3-2 win to salvage a series split against Boston University.
Jackson Irving made 37 saves for his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win for UMass at Northeastern in a non-conference game.
Matthews Arena will host the final hockey game in its storied history on Saturday, Dec. 13 as Northeastern hosts Boston University. The game will air on
NESN at 7:00 p.m.

Dean Letourneau - Boston College
Dean Letourneau (So., F; Arnprior, Ont.) scored three goals in a two-
game sweep of UMass Lowell, including two power-play goals in Friday’s 3-1 win and an insurance goal in Saturday’s 3-1 victory. He now
has four goals and two assists in his last three outings.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Aiden Wright - Vermont
Aiden Wright (Fr., G; Wake Forest, N.C.) made 30 saves Saturday
night to backbone the Catamounts to a 3-2 win over No. 18 Boston
University, snapping an 11-game losing streak against the Terriers for
Vermont. It was the fifth time this season the rookie goalie has made
30 or more saves in a game. The Catamounts are 3-2-0 in those contests.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Lukas Gustafsson - Boston College
Lukas Gustafsson (Sr., D; Atlanta, Ga.) had the primary assist on
Friday’s game-winning goal at UMass Lowell, before scoring a power-play, game-winning goal of his own on Saturday. He also blocked
three shots in the weekend sweep.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Chauvette - New Hampshire
Kyle Chauvette (Sr., G; Goffstown, N.H.) backboned New Hampshire
to a weekend sweep at Maine for the first time since 2008, making
49 saves and allowing just two goals. On Friday, he denied all 21 attempts from the Black Bears in a 1-0 victory before following up with
28 saves on 30 shots in a 3-2 win on Saturday. He has now allowed
just two goals in his last three starts.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Louka Cloutier, BC (Fr., G; Sherbrooke, Que.) Earned another two wins for the Eagles, his ninth and 10th of the season. On Friday, the freshman made 19 saves on 20 shots before making 31 stops on 32 pucks seen on Saturday. It was his fourth 30-plus save performance of the season.
Jake Richard, UConn (Jr., F; Jacksonville, Fla.) Wrapped a two-game sweep of Merrimack with two goals and one assist for three points.
Alexandre Blais, UConn (Fr., F; Longueuil, Que.) Netted the game-winning goal in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Merrimack
Trey Scott, UConn (So., D; Lunenburg, Mass.) In his first action since Nov. 8, he had two primary assists, including on the game-winning goal in Friday’s 3-0 win over Merrimack, to extend his current point streak to four (4a).
Tyler Muszelik, UConn (Jr., G; Long Valley, N.J.) Finished a weekend sweep of Merrimack 2-0 allowing just two goals and 55 saves, including a 19-save shutout on Friday, for a .965 save percentage and. a 1.00 goals against average.
Jackson Irving, UMass (Jr., G; Newbury, Mass.) Made 37 saves in a 2-0 win at Northeastern in a non-conference game on Sunday evening. It was his second shutout of the season and third of his career. He has now made at least 30 saves in each of his seven starts on the year, including three games with at least 40 stops.
Mirko Buttazzoni, UML (So., F; Langley, B.C.) Scored the team’s lone goal on Friday night against Boston College, before assisting on the team’s lone goal on Saturday to finish the weekend with two points and a plus- one rating.
Diego Buttazzoni, UML (Fr., F; Langley, B.C.) Had a goal and an assist for the River Hawks in a two-game set with Boston College, finishing with a plus-one rating.
Samuel Richard, UML (Sr., G; Sainte-Catherine, Que.) Made 32 saves in a 3-1 setback at Boston College on Saturday.
Cam MacDonald, UNH (So., F; Toronto, Ont.) Scored the lone goal in UNH’s 1-0 victory at Maine on Friday night and had the primary assist on the game-tying goal that sparked a three-goal run for the Wildcats in Saturday’s 3-2 victory.
Josh Player, UNH (So., D; Thorofare, N.J.) Earned his first collegiate point with the game-winning goal on Saturday in a 3-2 win at No. 11 Maine, delivering UNH its first road sweep of Maine since 2008. He also posted three blocks over the two games and had a plus-one rating for the series. He was a member of a defense that only allowed two goals over two games.
Vinny Borgesi, NU (Sr., D; Philadelphia, Pa.) Had a primary assist and a goal, both coming on the power play, in Northeastern’s 3-2 overtime victory against UMass on Saturday night in league play.
Dylan Hryckowian, NU (Jr., F; Ile-Bizard, Que.) Dished out a primary assist on a power-play goal before securing two points with an overtime goal in Saturday’s 3-2 win over UMass.
